GDT: 1/11/25 6pm Oilers @ Hawks CHSN

How'd Reichel look? Well more like he cared than Kurashev did the night before- that's really all it ends up taking any more.

Schaefer
Levshunov
Korchinski
Vlasic
Rinzel
Allan
EDM
Crevier
Kaiser
Etc…

We might potentially end up with the greatest collection of 23 and under defenseman in the history of mankind.

Then we’ll sign Marner and draft McKenna in ‘26 and guys like Dach, Nazar, Boisvert, Moore, Vanacker, etc. will all start making a serious impact. Bedard will become an elite MVP caliber 1C by the time he turns 21.

Add it all together and you’re looking at the next great Dynasty in all of pro sports. 14 Cups in 19 years. Including 3 3-peats, 2 repeats, and one pete.
And the cheque's in the mail.

So many of you bitch like 10 year olds that Reichel doesn’t get opportunities.
Then he’s given one and you bitch some more.
I don’t think that’s what happened. I expected people to bitch about having 3 kids together as it’s treated like a stupid idea, but it was pretty much silent here when it actually happened.

Despite his occasional gaffes to me Crevier has been better than Kaiser this year

Honestly dont see it with Kaiser at this point. He looks like an expendable asset to be utilized in potential trade

Even with his so called level of care, Reichel was still worse than Kurashev.

He neutered the Nazar line and gave an all-time low performance.

It's insulting that he hasn't hit waivers yet. The bum belongs in Europe.

Both of their contracts are up after this season. I doubt Kaiser would bring much of a return.

Yeah, nobody is giving up anything for Kaiser. He has no offense and isn't even that good defensively and makes a ton of stupid decisions.

Do you expect him to get faster somehow mid season on a back to back?
No... he is not first line material.

Kaiser has good wheels and has his good moments but he is inconsistent as are most 22-year old dmen making there way into the NHL. It's too early to give up on him, IMO.

Only problem is that Allan, Korchinski, and Del Mastro will also be needing new contracts in the near future. None of them should be super pricey, but how do any of them get enough playing time to figure out a pecking order? No one would trade much for any of them and they aren't much as far as trade sweetener. I can't imagine too many people could rank any of the four beyond pure speculation. Allan and Del Mastro have played a bit on both sides so that adds a bit of a plus for them, but that adds Crevier to the mix of players who need ice time.

I hear ya. Allan is a lock and Crevier is getting better - I like what Crevier brings with his long wing span which leaves KK, Kaiser and Del Mastro probably competing for one spot. Murphy needs to go.
KD will need to make the tough decisions relatively soon.

I'd like to see Allan and Crevier get some time together. I wonder if they could end up being a shutdown third pairing duo.

It's becoming clear that both Reichel and Kurashev would be better off in Euro leagues.....their speed and skating is fine, but there's not much else to their game without desire and physicality. They belong on the island of misfit toys.

What did I even just watch there. Wow.

Just give Kurashev away and send Crevier back to Rockford, and send Kaiser with him.

All in a span of 24 hours.

@Pez68 is this what you had in mind with your 90% comment?

His last 2-3 games have really stood out to me. Yes, I am walking my original opinion back on Crevier and admitting I may have been wrong.

Hopefully he continues to draw into the lineup until the 4 Nations break if he plays like this.

The point is, we don't have any first liners outside of Bedard. Of course we are going to have ppl that don't belong on the 1st line. Stop complaining.
But that doesn't mean Hawks don't try to find the best line mates for the kid. We are not there yet, IMO. Call it complaining if you wish?

Yes, Crevier has been a pleasant surprise. And when Murphy returns, if Brodie plays instead of Crevier, I'll lead the crowd with torches and pitchforks to 1901 W Madison (Now that's some hyperbole).

Hope I’m wrong but I’m not expecting KD to admit he’s wrong with Brodie signing yet and let him be the one to sit.

Hell, just give Martinez away to clear a spot at this point. I’m sure you can find a team out east in the WC race that could use him.

His last 2-3 games? I’m guessing you’re new to hockey. It’s called developing. And so you know it takes the bigger guys longer to adjust.
FYI, Vlasic wasn’t on anyone’s radar as a top pairing guy 3 years ago. Most here were hoping he could be a solid 3rd pairing guy.
Crevier (to me) has a floor of solid 3rd pairing guy. Likely becomes the defensive guy to a more offensive type Dman on a 2nd pairing but playing that type of role on a top pairing really isn’t out of the question.
I get it, you don’t play and it’s clear your objective here is to criticize. The problem with that is you lack the basic knowledge.
I think (that means it’s an opinion) many here have a lot of knowledge and do a good job of seeing things for what they are rather than like you who create an opinion and then twist until you make the play fit what you want it to be.

I’ve been here since around 2008 (different name)… back when people used to laugh at BWC for his moniker.
I don’t post too many player evaluation because honestly I’m not qualified. When I do I pretty much always note that it’s just my opinion.

Guys like you, BWC, Musto and Fiddy are a joke to me. Your opinions are stated as facts and they are usually wrong. Fortunately for you and BWC, Musto and Fiddy are here so you can never be the worst.

Back to my original thought, Larry Robinson (a coach by then) said about Chara going from fringe 3rd pairing guy to top pairing shut down guy. That for guys who are tall and bulky it takes time to adjust to pucks near your feet. To learn to protect it from opponents sticks.
I see posts here about Crevier (and EDM in Rockford) losing puck battles. I let it go because it’s not worth arguing.
It’s as dumb as Fiddy bitching about Bedard shooting at a 4x6 net from 30 feet away and missing. If fiddy knew hockey he would know you’re not aiming at the 4x6. You’re aiming at a 4 inch opening at the top or bottom corner. Miss your spot (from 30 feet) by 2 inches and guess what? ITS WIDE !

Yeah I stopped reading after the second sentence.

Obviously he’s developing. He’s 22 years old and has played 38 NHL games.

The real question is he in a spot to better develop in the AHL or NHL. Earlier the season and even recently I’d have said AHL, after last night and his more recent performance I’d now flip that and say he’s earned more NHL time with anyone other than Brodie as his partner. I think he and Vlasic might be finding something as a pairing.
