GDT: 1/11/25 6pm Oilers @ Hawks CHSN

Edmonton will never win a Cup with this goalie tandem and defenseman group.

In the handful of Oiler games I’ve watched this year Ekholm has looked like he’s take a decent step backwards and he was the key piece to their whole blue line. He’s the reason Bouchard was able to thrive and it’s just not happening this year so far.

Not even close to true. Watch him play defense on Frank in the first. Watch him transition pucks D to O. He’s good.

I watched a lot of Edmonton last year, not nearly as much this year. He’s f***ing awful in his own zone.

It’s weird to me that someone who is so vocal about defensemen making soft plays is standing up from Bouchard.
Every single bad play he ever makes gets posted all over the board. Hes definitely not my favorite type of defender, but he gets lit up way too much for his play.

I had oilers winning one game for my parlay and man I’ve never realized how nervous Bouchard makes Oilers fans when he’s in his own zone. So soft and lackadaisical

I’m most disappointed by his production step back this year but think his overall transition game has improved a lot. His in zone defense game will never be elite but people seem to just have a tough time accepting a player can still be good even in that case. The more production a DMan brings the more scrutiny his in zone defensive game seems to get from a lot of fans.

His in zone defense is soft and disengaged but he’s really good on retrieval and transition and that’s just the modern game.

People act like he’s awful. I dont want to pay him 11 mil if I’m Edmonton but he’s a good player.

Edmonton has been flying the last 6-7 minutes to close this period.

Hawks lack of legs from yesterday’s game and the travel probably catching up to them.
