I will say, I didn’t think Johnson would bother me since I anticipated he’d play 3rd pairing and be relatively innocuous but he stands out as being bad.

I could buy the "he's on the third pair" spiel for guys who are garden-variety bad. Johnson needs about a minute and a half to ruin the whole game.

As I said earlier, I’m reserving all panic and frustration until a few games in. For now just observing and scouting, looking for bright spots.

The Rangers are back, Lafreniere actually has me on the edge of my seat each shift and that’s enough to make me happy tonight. About to pour a nice whiskey and just take it all in.

It was, but that never should have happened in the first place, Jack Johnson can't make a simple play on a simple d to d pass and the puck comes right back the other way. Why he's playing instead of Smith is outrageous.

This is what people don’t get. The Rangers actively went out of their way to get this guy and spent the last of their available cap in doing so. It’s indefensible

Yeah, I guess I was trying to stay positive but he’s truly abysmal. Staal had to go due to salary. Johnson is an actual downgrade, just cheap.

Look at what he did to Crosby and Zucker last season. He turned Crosby into a sub 40% xGF player.

Games changed so much. So many opportunities that period for us to generate turnovers by just committing to the body but saw a lot of half ass touch butt and weak stick checks. Land a big hit get some energy and momentum when its not going your way. Thats where you miss your Callahans and Dubinskys
