GDT: 03/15/2025 - 11 games

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

In the meantime, feel free to join our Discord Server
Howden was going for and allowed contact there. It would have been a clean check. The kind of hit that the NHL wants. Problem is Kulich suddenly cut inside and lowered his upper body. Nothing Howden could do when you're moving that fast. I loathe people who say what I'm about to say, but if you've ever been on skates going 12-15 mph then you'd know even if you have the reflexes to assess and adjust that quickly, you simply can't just cut into the ice and avoid contact.

Not sure why you're saying something about my scenario. I'd sooner all Vegas players be banned for life than root for them.
Its true.

Its not relevant the way Kulich is leaning. Thats the thing, there is no excuse that allows a player to hit another player in the head.

Do you think if a player puts himself in a vulnerable position that means its open season to smoke him in the head?

The rule is you have to avoid contact if the point of contact is the head. Thats the rule.
No, it should not be open season, but players also have to protect themselves by being more aware. The rule that comes first in hockey is keep your head up, and to always protect yourself. Everyone would probably start skating with their head down if it meant they were now untouchable.

A player does not have to protect themselves from headshots because headshots are illegal.

Thats like saying we should all walk around with bullet proof jackets just in case.

How hard is it to understand there is no scenario that makes hitting to the head ok?

That's on Kulich.

That's a clean hit.

You can see here that Kulich is low and leading with his head. Howden should have seen that and knowing the rules avoided the hit.

Howden was literally lining him up for a headshot.

Hitting someone with your car is illegal too, doesn’t mean I can just run out in the middle of a busy freeway and start air-humping.

The onus may be on the player to avoid head contact when making a hit, but in practice, sometimes you're certain you have a clean hit lined up and suddenly the player you're trying to hit decides to not properly brace for impact in the blink of an eye, so there's that too.

Game has quieted down significantly since the hitting and fighting hubbub.

That can only be good news for the Knights who are, of course, ahead.
All they gotta do now is put everyone to sleep and the game is theirs.

It is on the Sabres to re-ignite things and tie this thing up.

12 and a half to go....their alarm better go off, and go off fast...

No, Kulich was turning the corner and with his speed would normally be riding the boards. That’s what Howden was expecting. Kulich then suddenly cut between the two players. It was an unfortunate incident. That’s what happens in a fast game.

But that never happened here. Howden lined up Kulich and Kulich never changed his stance or his skating.

If there's anything we can count on from the Knights, it's their ability to put everyone to sleep during a game.
