Adams: “move on from Cozens, Peterka, Joki, Samuelsson? Best I can do is extend Joki and trade Zucker for a 2nd rounder at the TDL”

it’s beyond obvious he’s not up to the task.
I don't think it is obvious at all. He has typically done well in trades for the perceived value.

Right now it takes two to tango and the reality is not a lot of teams are moving what we need AND are making what we need available.

We can agree Adams needs to be figuring something out and it sounded like a lot of his options fell through in the summer but he needed a plan d, e, f.

Those 4 are consistently a problem, I could listen to an argument on Samuelsson but the other three for sure need to be sent packing.

If Adams was up to the task would we be in our current situation, after 5 years of his management??

Come on man. Wake up.

It's been 5 years of him never finding a tango partner. And he has missed out on 100% of the players that we needed when they were available or ended up moving.

5 years of all of his options falling through. Sounds like he's not capable.

Thats the thing. It hasnt been the time, and we have been gaslighted by Adams and some of the media mouthpieces on this for years.

Adams' 1st season, even with an 18 game losing streak were 12-27-7 after 46 games, thats 31 points. Now they are 17-24-5. 39 points. What improvement!

Oh, and Botterill's last year, with Krueger. 20-19-7. 47 points.

Murray's last season 19-18-9 for 47 points.

What are we doing here?

Perhaps, if you ignore the scraps he got back trading Eichel and Reinhart.

It’s hard to accept this franchise destroyed itself for Payton Krebs and Devon Levi.
You could forgive some moves.
But how he missmanaged the development of esp. Krebs and also Levi.
And he did basically nothing to move on from any of the guys he chose.
Maybe he dreamt up most of his plan the night he got the job and never deferred much from it.
He is so slow to react to anything if he does anything at all.
Some say procrastination is a sympton of depression 🫠

the entire fan base is depressed, so it must be working...

Why are you talking in absolutes? He has found partners to trade with. He typically does well in trades. Just because fans think a player might be a good fit here doesn't mean they will if they don't match the structure.

He overpayed for much needed vets (some didn't work out so far like Malenstyn ) because he didn't do anything for years to fix roster issues.
Or bring in Bryam instead of a better Center or defensive RD.

What structure? Who fits the structure here on the team? Adams had a chance to get Marino, Kovacevic, Jensen, Fabbro, Borgen and Carrier. Six RDs over the summer and season, there's just no excuse for the GM not making any of those moves. Any sane person would admit that Adams screwed up big time.

Because he is a puppet gm for a owner who thinks he's Punch Imlach and Larry Quinn.

The trades of Jack and Sam went well ? More delusion.

Ah yes. He's done well in trades. So well in fact, that it has led to the sustained period of success pictured below.

Malenstyn has definitely worked out. It is often him that brings the team back into the fight. I'd love for him to jump up to the third line and get more action. Year 3 is the first year that he should have been trying to fill the vet holes. I really liked his vision this off-season on what he executed and what he tried to execute. Saying that, Lafferty and NAK have been huge disappointments. Lafferty is a shell of what he was and NAK just seems like he is in Cancun.

The structure for the defense is quickly retrieve the puck and get it to the forwards. The biggest issue is they need a partner for Power and Johnson. That needs to be addressed by the tdl or at the draft. I agree it has been to long and trotting out Joki fails every time.

They have built their dmen around that. I personally would have passed on Marino, Kovacevic had a Renaissance (that is a tough one to predict if that happens here), Jensen was a part of the Chychrun deal, Fabbro I would have taken a flyer on, even would have paid a flyer prospect for, Borgen I would have paid a decent price for knowing that he would probably walk in the off-season but what that price was, not sure but it probably would have been a Peterka or Quinn. Carrier would have been a pass for me.

The thing is he may have been in on a lot of these guys (we know for sure on the waiver guys).

Yeah. They traded a broken, ego driven center who had 10 million left for 5+ years. Getting a first, second, Krebs and Tuch was very good. The neck thing scared off over half the league. If he was completely healthy then I would have expected more.

Sam I thought was fine. I think Adams messed up the one year deal but I also don't know if Sam wanted the full 8. He was an RFA that was going to get some money. Getting a potential franchise goalie and Kulich isn't a negative. It's on the team to develop them.

I get that, as fans, Eichel should have returned a massive haul and same with Sam but looking at the returns they pulled, I doubt Adams left better packages on the table for funsies.

You can do well in trades over the course of 5 years and still not have a playoff team. The extreme regression by some players last year mixed with even further regression this year have really tanked this season. Imo it's a difficult spot to be in and he deserves some criticism.
