(I believe MSG had a stat tonight that said 11. My looks count it as 12. Feel free to double check if you have no life as I do)

Tonight, the Rangers extended their NHL record with their 12th straight loss in a game where they have the opportunity to take a two game lead, or more, in a playoff series. This streak started in 2009. Some stats to follow....

Henrik Lundqvist in those games:

0-12 (duh), 3.47 GAA, .880 sv%

Rangers team stats in those games?

1.42 goals per game.
16% PP conversion.

Basically, just an all-around **** show. And such an unbelievable stat to begin with. I wonder what the odds are on something like this.

-31-?

Either way, this needs to end.

About what I expected.

Hank playing poor and the rest of the team playing lackadaisical. Same **** I noticed with my eyes. It's a team game and the entire team from Hank out have failed on these games.

What is the core at this point?

Good question. Didn't it used to be stepan mcd girardi staal and cally and hank?

Stepan gives less effort than justin fall does up in the box
Mcd is cheap shoted constantly and no one helps him
Girardi still doesn't fit the system completely
Staal is injury prone and probably gets traded this offseason or at the deadline
Cally got traded and we got trade *****
And hank is a shell of his former self

I mean it doesn't surprise me in the biased samples of 12 games that we lost our GAA is very high and goals/game is very low.

Idiotic. .920 save % and 2 GA. The truth is it's the same old story - can't score to save their lives.

I've said it before, I'll say it again. It's their mindset. Giroux and the Flyers come into this game, and they're saying, "we're sending this to MSG tied". The Rangers go into this series and everyone is like "they're a good team, so this will no doubt be a long series". Self-fulfilling prophecy. No Oomph with the Flyers up by a goal, except for maybe the last 5 minutes. Being tied up after 4 games means everything goes according to the plan. **** that approach. Seriously.

I almost flipped a table at the effort they put forth in the 3rd. Not only did they not want it bad enough (and it was obvious), they deviated from their gameplan. When you see this current Rangers team dumping pucks in and trying to retrieve them, things are not going well.

I wouldn't be AS pissed if this happened against Boston or Pittsburgh. Philly is a total garbage team AINEC. If we get bounced by them, I really don't know what I'll do. They just aren't good. AND AND AND, they were down to 5 defensemen last night. So let's recap:

1. Had the opportunity to put a stranglehold on the series. Fail
2. Couldn't take advantage of a team rolling 5 pretty crappy defensemen. Fail
3. Couldn't take advantage of a goalie who hadn't started a game in weeks, who is no 2nd coming of Patrick Roy anyway. Fail

Pretty much everything that could've went wrong last night for us did. What a pathetic effort by 90% of the team. I'm still confident we win this series, but holy crap if this thing goes 7 games and we have to eek it out in game 7 these guys need to seriously look in the mirror

They don't have that killer instinct. Haven't had it since they needed only 9 games total to eliminate the Islanders and Capitals in 1994.

The killer instinct on this team is and has been sorely lacking.

It looks like Zucc is the only one on the team with any.

Wonder what the reason is. Is it a character issue? Or a talent issue?

Most of this stat is coming from our lone long playoff run. That team is generally considered to have overachieved and wasn't some powerhouse favorite to roll through everyone in the playoffs.

We were missing an important top 6 forward in Dubinsky for half of those games. Our top offensive threat was playing with 1 functioning shoulder. Kreider making his NHL debut was asked to fill in the top 6 on occassion and the 3rd line was Feds-Boyle-Prust.

I don't really think there is much of a connection to make, new coaches, new players in new roles. Just a brutal run in these situations.

Lets hope the Rangers start a new streak of winning series when down 3 games to 1.:)

I'd disagree in saying they were not a powerhouse. They were widely considered one of the best in the East that year even if they were overachieving. They were the best defensive team in the league, they had guys chipping in offensively on every line even if it was few and far between.

What killed the Rangers that year was their defense wearing out. McD and G were playing 30 minutes a game, Stu Bickel was playing 3. If you were to put a capable 3rd pairing guy on that team, I believe they go to the Cup regardless of their inability to finish in less than 7.
