OT: ♫ The Music Thread ♫

wow! they just found a never before heard song by john lennon, david bowie, brian wilson and charles manson! it's called "hey mr mod man get over it and unban noncents"

Man, I have never seen anyone ever mention Propagandhi before, and now twice. I have a split 7" of theirs with another Canadian metal band called Sacrifice who was actually the reason why I bought it.

For me they're a bit like Bad Religion only a little harder. They're more of a punk band but for those who like metal they are definitely metal friendly. The Canadian thing makes me think of D.O.A. who were legends in their time---up there with Black Flag, Dead Kennedys and Bad Brains anyway. Propagandhi could hang with any of them.

I'm excited these guys have a new album. Dissonant experimental metal with some avant garde jazz influence. Parts of the underground metal scene especially in NY (the Vitus stuff) has fallen out of favor with me the last year and a half. These guys are still cool.
Yeah I am super excited to see them here in Vegas in a couple of months as they don’t tour consistently. Vile Luxury is a favorite album of mine.

I like how it goes from doom metal to melodic black metal. I can definitely sleep to it, haha. They're very technical.

My Brain Hurts is such a great album. Their whole catalog is great. I even have a tattoo based on Burn Out Girl. Ben Weasel's solo albums are really good too. I did the real shitty cover artwork for The Brain That Wouldn't Die LP and some art on a Riverdales album.

You posted a lot of nostalgic awesomeness. Choking Victim, Conflict, Anti-Flag ( I have their demo cassette at my mom's haha), Propaghandi. Reinventing Axel Rose brings back great memories too. Fun times!

I have the Black Flag and Propagandhi lp's here.

The leader of Anti-Flag Justin Sane was hit with a ton of rape allegations last year that includes pre-teenage girls that pretty much his entire reputation is in the toilet. As a band going forward I think they're pretty much done.
My buddy toured with Anti-Flag and he told me Justin Sane is all talk and just kept up with his views for the fans. I guess he's completely different in real life? This was before all those allegations.

The Specials and Agent Orange are two of my favorites bands ever.

If I remember things right there was a Fender guitar factory somewhere out in SoCal in the 60's and Mike Palm's (Agent Orange's guitarist and singer) brother worked at that factory and they grew up around guitars and surf music. So along comes punk rock and he just blended surf and punk together. If not the first Agent Orange had to be among the first Surf Punk bands ever. I've probably heard their cover of Pipeline 10,000 times by now and learned to play it on the guitar a long time ago though he plays it a bit differently than I do. I take a few shortcuts.

The Specials first album was just amazing. Right before they broke up the first time came Ghost Town.

Also have that GBH album in vinyl. I'm pretty sure that was their first album.

So I have that TSOL record + the first they did with Posh Boy where they thank a church in the credits on the back cover that Jack burglarized for their PA system.

Have a nice day from Christ: The album by Crass. It was a box set of 3 ups---one lp is live stuff and plays at 45 speed. There are inserts and a booklet. Crass is known for their logo---the ouroboros (serpent eating itself) wrapped around a nazi swastika and christian cross. They are pretty much the first anarcho-punk band and in their time they got mention now and again from outraged politicians in the House of Commons. They spawned a bunch of other bands--Flux of Pink Indians, Rudimentary Peni, The Mob....the Subhumans, Conflict, Discharge and even Chumbawamba who became famous for their Tubthumping record. I get knocked down---I get up again---you're never going to keep me down. They ended up kind of a dance band but a pretty damn subversive one.

Have the first Social Distortions LP Mommy's little monster--which that song is from.

The Subhumans The day the Country died is f***ing awesome. My favorite Subhumans song---Us fish must swim together is off that record.
