Are we going to be so obtuse to not acknowledge that the Rangers jersey that they’ve worn almost exclusively for close to a 100 years isn’t “their” signature?
Diagonal lettering has never been exclusive to the Rangers. Hockey is bigger than the NHL, it's extremely common at lower levels, particularly college. And even in the NHL numerous other teams have worn diagonal wordmarks over the years.

Even though the Rags had them forever, I like the Canes aways a lot better and it's not due to homerism. With only 5 letters vs 7, each letter is a lot bigger which gives the jersey a much more aesthetically pleasing splash of color, at least to my eye. And I've subbed for an elementary school art teacher a number of times, so I'm definitely qualified to make such a judgement!

oh, and f%*k that goal reversal!
I’ve long been on my anti-swirl agenda and I approve of this message.

Before 1928?
1920:

1921:

And that's just stuff I could find quickly.

My only guess on the goalie interference is they believe there wasn’t enough of a push by Pionk that’s literally the only thing I can think of but it still doesn’t make sense

MLB was founded in 1867 and every teams name was spelled out on their jersey. The Rangers did nothing unique.
No it wasn’t. Even by 1900 only the Reds had the full city name on their jersey. Most were blank.

And that’s not even the goddamn point. Diagonal lettering on a hockey jersey. Original 6 team did it in 1928 and has mostly had that for the entire time. The Canes jersey is at the very least inspired by that.

Ok man the Rags were the first team ever to English, whatever makes you happy.

I didn't even realize at the time that our goal went off their player, so that should kinda make it even more of a moot point if there was any miniscule contact
