Seems like Wild could benefit from shedding some cap for next year at least with those monster Parise and Suter cap hits looming, Zucc has a partial NTC so this is under the assumption he would waive to come back to the Rangers (there were some rumors of bad blood but presumably if that were true it would be with the old regime of Gorton).

This likely wouldn't happen as signs point to Drury targeting someone younger to supplement the top 6, but it is early offseason for all but 2 teams in the league, so oh well.

Zuccarello + 2025 3rd for Kakko

Rangers need to get bigger, faster, and stronger to not fall short in the East. The road goes through Florida.

Love me some Zucc, but now is not time for a nostalgia tour. He checks none of the boxes in a player we need to add right now.

Can't imagine getting smaller, slower, more passing minded is what Drury wants.

Rangers fans are plenty entertained by Rempe, no need for Zuccarello to spice up the market.

Id make the deal. Zucc is largely useless 5v5 unless he’s attached to Kaprizov and when they play together they give up as much as they get. But I don’t see the Rangers being interested

MN really struggled for middle 6 offense last season, it doesn’t make much sense to downgrade that further in the short term even if there is future upside. Trading Kaprizov’s best friend on the team prior to his extension also seems unlikely, especially when he was just given trade protections less than a year ago.

Zucc’s power play abilities are needed for the Wild, at least until such time as one of our own young prospects is ready. Kakko just doesn’t strike me as a Guerin target.

Maybe whoever drafts Nygard and maybe puts him right into the NHL would want Zucc just so he could have a fellow Norwegian on the team?

You're always well spoken, and spot on :thumbu:

In 9 days Zuccarello has full no move clause. He wants to stay in MN, doesn't want to move his family incl a couple of kids, a 2 years old and a 2 months old.

Is Kakko viewed negatively by Rangers fans?
He likely seems to be a 35-40 point player with good defense and very good possession metrics. If he is going to take the next step it won’t be realized here, and the playoffs enunciated that. He can’t drive offense to save his life unfortunately.

some want instant gratification
he is both good and a work in progress
he needs proper linemates
eye test proves kid line worked, also Cuylle
needs a C if Chytil out of the equation

conclusion:
not untouchable but his upside drives keep + develop further unless overpayment
Not massive overpayment, but overpayment
