When you enter through the door, you know you're spending a fair amount of *Randy Moss voice* Straight Cash, Homey
Rather than a visit to the local liquor store

However, do you feel that the clubbing/ night lounge culture in Vancouver, is money well spent?

No. See Toronto, Montreal.

I hate that you have to be somewhere fairly early here when in those cities we might leave the house at 11pm and get to the club at midnight.

Also, lots more bars as opposed to what I would call a club. Not necessarily a bad thing but depends on what floats your boat.

On the whole it's garbage. The pub scene is a lot better than the club scene, with a number of good back door pubs in Yaletown and Gastown. Irish Heather (and their back door pub inside) is probably one of my favourite spots. The Blarney Stone is also a great place.

In terms of clubs, Barcelona is probably my favourite club. Bottle service there isn't too expensive either compared to other clubs in Vancouver. Number 2 on my list would probably be Status in New West (sadly).

Venue is bad if you get stuck in line. I once spent three hours waiting to get in for a birthday party.

Caprice is full of **********.

Republic is fun but expensive as hell.

Celebrities is cool if you go on the right night. Otherwise, get ready for a lot of uncomfortable situations (lol)

The pubs like Blarney Stone, Doolins, Lennox etc. are solid though. That's the place to be.

y2k pretty much nails it.

The Blarney Stone is probably my favourite watering hole downtown. Very pricey, most downtown are though. Sucks for college students that are too cheap to take a cab home we have to be outta there by 12:30, when I'd rather stay til 2 or 3. Blarney - good drinks, good bartenders, good music. Here the food is good, I don't like to eat much outside the house though.

Personally, I don't like the club scene. Been to Vinyl, I had a good time. Usually do when I'm getting free drinks though.

expected that the club scene overall is a joke. But why? reasons.

Is it the people that are always trying to "one-up" each other, immaturity

Keep the suggestions coming with the pubs

Too many ********** go to the clubs here, drinks are usually overpriced, the DJ's tend to be kinda meh, the layout isn't the greatest, and the bottle service is way over priced. Though I didn't mind the Roxy, but it's not a place I'd really recommend either.

The Cambie is really an awesome place for a pub. It gets really packed on Fridays and Saturdays though. I'd also recommend Hooker's Green in Yaletown, and Tap and Barrel in the Olympic Village.

If you're only going to be in Vancouver for one night, I usually tell people to either go to The Roxy or Venue.. Or at least just walk along Granville street... I usually have a fun time at The Roxy whenever I go...... or don't go...

Watergate in Berlin was amazing, as was Matrix (which is probably the number 1 club on my list so far). I plan to go to Karlovy Lazne in Prague this September which is a 5-story club.

I've been to various clubs in and around Vancouver and lots of spots all over the US.

Downtown is alright, similar to what you'll see in other cities. The problem is that the clubs people talk about being great (ie The Roxy, anywhere in Whistler) just aren't that great. Agreed with Y2K that Barcelona is the best now, great music and a good crowd.

I'm sure I'll be in the minority, but the best clubs used to be all in the suburbs - Surrey, White Rock, Maple Ridge, etc. Fun clubs, cheap drinks, good music. Good strip clubs too. Now there's nothing and everyone flocks to downtown.

As for the US, Florida has the best clubs I've been to. Fun spots.

Biltmore is fun. It's a bit of an older crowd, has a rep for being a hipster place but it's more just a casual place.

Cheap drinks and they're not dicks about keeping a line etc either.

It's sucked ever since Tommy Africa's sunk.

Heck half of the guys here are too young or were conceived after a night at Tommy's

I used to like Lola's but I heard that it has gotten progressively worse over the last year and a bit.

Wednesday night at the Pit. :handclap: I like those places where I can walk home.

I hate the club scene in Vancouver. Too many ********** trying to impress women, overpriced drinks, long lines, expensive cover, and worst of all... too far from the suburbs. I went to Fortune the other night. Got there at around 10:30 and was out by 12:30 because there was no way I was going to pay for a cab to Burnaby which would cost me a fortune (no pun intended).

Clubbing in Victoria however is my cup of tea. Lots of fellow students, close to everything, reasonably priced drinks, and much friendlier people.

Yup, it was great.

I was also a fan of On The Roxx, and the Delanies/Ozone combo. I don't know, almost all the questionable suburb bars were great.

Your theory holds true until you get to surrey...went to Mirage once and never again. That place should be condemned.

Mirage was bad, because it always tried to be a classy club in Surrey which is impossible. Definitely the exception to the rule, good call.
