Xenforo Cloud will be upgrading us to version 2.3.5 on March 3rd at 12 AM GMT. This version has increased stability and fixes several bugs. We expect downtime for the duration of the update. Fix the PP. I don't know how its so bad, maybe a PP coach needs to be brought in. I get Boston had a crappy PP, but guess what? We aren't Boston. The RANGERS need a good PP

I'd open up the offense, allow the creative players to be creative.
Simplify the strategy on the Power Play. Pucks and body to the net. There's way too much passing going on, looking for the perfect shot.

Hire Ruff as assistant coach. No SC Finals = Fire Torts and hire Ruff
If so - also have Sather retire due to his Danny Crane Alzheimers and have Gorton take over.
Hire Brian Leech to run the PP
Fire Joe Micheletti too... and that idiot doing the studio host thing - Al Trautwig...

Try to trade for O´Reilly/Barrie offering MDZ, Boyle, a midlevel prospect and a 3rd
Sign O´Reilly at max 3,6 per in a 2 year bridge contract - if not possible - walk away from this deal.
Try to trade for Murray (or Erskine) offering another 3rd, prospect and one of the three #6 defensemen we currently employ.
Sign MZA as soon as his Russian team is eliminated.
At the deadline try to pick up one more piece - either a PP defender (especially if MZA does not work out) or a depth UFA fwd (plenty of options)
Resign Hagelin, Stepan and McD in the offseason (3 of our best players right now) to reasonable bridge deals around 1,8-2 per (Hagelin), 2,3-2,6 (Stepan) per and 4-4,4 per (McD - longer deal maybe?)
Qualify & sign Sauer to a 2 way deal hoping he can rebound
Buyout Richards in the future. His play dictates how soon that will be.
BTW - this morning a huge business deal totally blew up in my face. Which can happen in the big league. But it also involves sinister criminal fraud and unfortunately a huge lawsuit (from me - not against me) and hysterical media bs is therefore incoming. That - coupled with the misery from the NYR game last night - made me continue my whiskey trail this morning like a scorned rock star. Will get pretty ugly I fear

Try to acquire a big body at the deadline (a la Dustin Penner) who is versatile and can play any where from line 1-3 effectively.

I think the power play is getting better. Although if they aren't scoring goals then the result is still the same.
The movement on the power play is a little better and that Gaborik to Stepan tap pass back to the point is at least giving them a little more space. It is time to put the puck in the net though.
Unfortunately, without Nash, there isn't that one guy that looks like he will take over a game. Also, the team has to stop giving up leads in the 3rd period. Happened against Boston and last night. Two teams that are ahead of the Rangers in the standings.

There are no reasonable and logical moves to be made right now that will immediately fix this team except for Torts trying to take this team in another direction and getting them to play as a team.
Their best players need to be their best players and Torts is partially responsible for making that happen.

Keep it simple on the PP like they did in the 3rd tonight. Shoot the puck and crash the net for rebounds. Enough overpassing.
I think most players could benefit from taking more initiative, becoming more engaged, playing with confidence. The intensity this team had last year is lacking. Boyle played great against the Sens last year due in part to physicality - there was little of that from him last night.
Perhaps most importantly, we desperately need Richards to turn it around. He needs to start doing the things that we expected of him when he signed here.

Get Nash back in the lineup. We won't win without him at this point. Sad to say, but without him we aren't nearly as good.

Time, patience and health. They may very well miss the playoffs this season. That doesn't mean they can't be a Cup contender next season.
This. Get Nash back and give Kreider top 6 minutes and LEAVE HIM THERE for the whole ****ing game. Kreider drew 2 penalties in the first and should have drawn another one when he was tripped out near Anderson and 10 minutes later he's on a line with Boyle and Halpern. No minutes in OT. I generally like the majority of Torts' decisions but he needs to let this kid play.
You won't win a Championship with a bunch of American College kids. This team needs more grit like they had last year.. Too many forwards who do not contribute in any way.. Rangers have the softest D in hockey. We don't have 1 Defenseman that makes the other teams players pay for standing in front of Hank..

This is not a bad hockey team. Improvement in my opinion comes in the way of shot selection. Too many shots that get blocked by the opposition and end up being odd man rushes the other direction, especially on the PP, but even strength as well. Too much passing up open shots in order to look for an open net finish. Take shots, look for rebounds. Quit passing the puck around until the only option is for Marc Staal to shoot into the shins of the opposing forward waiting to lead a rush the other direction.

The best way for this team to begin winning regularly is to fix the PP. But that is easier said than done. Other than that I would move Boyle to the 4th line permanently, let two talented kids (Miller and Kreider) play regular shifts (even through the ups and downs). It will pay dividends in May. And I would allow my bottom players to see the ice in the 3rd period because we are not playing well in that period probably due to the only guys playing are out of gas. The Halpern line has been responsible and Gilroy is not hurting you. So, let them play.
Richards and DZ cannot be on the same unit. Too much passing on the PP, pass less, shoot more.

Practice one timers.
Get a right handed stay at home physical D man to pair up with DZ.
Trade Asham, he is not doing what he was brought up here to do, provide a spark when the team needs it. Mash can do what he does cheaper.

Torts and sullivan... they have to go ("great" coaches get fired all the time) IE: Ruff
the tortellini system doesn't work anymore. Offense from behind the net and wrap arounds are garbage. Especially with the quality of players we have. 2 "40 goal" scorers are combined for 10 goals in 30 man games and that is awful.
Our star players simply aren't providing the offense we need to win a game. We have to rely on 2nd line players to score goals because Richards and Gaborik can't produce. The goals we scored yesterday were almost all luck.. a bounce off the boards for a scrappy goal and a shot that wasn't redirected should have been stopped and we should have been shutout. This team should have one of the most potent offenses in the league with the guys we have ON PAPER. Yet nobody can score a goal because of this **** system that we use.
It's time to let our players like the creative ones that we have be creative (someone said that above and i completely agree). It pains me to see that Tavares has 1 less goal then RICHARDS GABORIK AND NASH combined. our "top scorers." I'm not trying to flame Nash because him and Hagelin have been the only ones that look like they know what they're doing.

When Ottawa scored that powerplay goal last night, they passed it so quick and just ripped the puck at the net.
When the Rangers are on the powerplay they just look for the perfect scoring play. They gotta get more gritty and look for those tough and dirty goals.
5 on 5 I believe the team is getting there, but work still needs to be done on a consistent basis.

I'm sorry, Ruff is a great coach? What has Ruff ever won? He made the playoffs one more time than he missed them.
