That second goal on Markstrom was not at all good.

He should have caught that one. He looks behind him after it’s in the net and the body language definitely looked like he was surprised it went in and that he didn’t glove that one.

If he makes that save then we get a whistle and kill the bullshit penalty and are only down 1-0.
Only down 1-0....but Binnington decided to turn into f'n Hasek/Marty/Roy (that, or our offense was stinky-poo)....

We would get a similar result that we got against Blackwood. 🤮

Sheesh if he makes a couple of saves early maybe it stays 0 - 0 and we find our legs. This game showed what happens when you don’t get goaltending at key moments. Those moments happened very early that’s all. This is several straight games he’s let in the first or second shot he’s seen.

I can’t criticize this team harshly. They’ve given consistent good efforts and the last month has been good stuff.

You get games like last night often before Thanksgiving or Xmas day. Our team was at home, kids and family on holiday, we even stage a big celebration before the puck drops with a bottle of wine (lol) being presented, we just came off of a week of big wins with the moms in the house and tomorrows the big feast . . . Let’s just say we didn’t show a lot of focus early, especially Markstrom.

Maybe it is easier to be the road team in this scenario, although I’ve seen games when road teams also look impatient to get on the flight home for the holidays.

We have a very tough weekend ahead. A tough week. Detroit will be playing to save their season and Washington to even the score against us.

The being against retreads just because they’re retreads is dumb. Henrique’s not moving because the Oilers are good. Either Hall or Palms would help the team.

I’ve always been overly fond of Palms, but even that attachment aside, he put up 30 goals last year and is on pace for another 30 goal season this year. 100% he would be of use if we were lucky enough to bring him back in somehow.

He’s tied for 26th in 5v5 goals over the past 2 seasons and min 1000 minutes tied 40th in 5v5 G/60. Like maybe someone could think the price is too high for a rental but strictly as a player it’s asinine to think he wouldn’t be a great add

Detroit is a very badly coached/badly built and GM'd team, and just really bad all around.

We really should be winning that, especially after Markstrom TANKED us the last game we played them.

Binnington set a club record with his 152nd win last night. Seems impossible.
I'm shocked their most winning goalie only has 152.

They had a lot of regular season success for many years and had one of the longest or maybe the longest playoff streak in the league up until the lockout? I think that probably speaks to them just not having very long tenured goalies there.

I'm assuming it was Curtis Joseph that he passed last night.

Nope! I'm wrong! Only 96 wins as a Blue for Cujo.

Mike Liut maybe?

That's who it was!

The “when we score, we win” streak is still alive. But so is the “this team is incapable of winning more than three games in a row” streak. So it evens out. I had a totally legitimate stream playing on my Steam Deck, went to do some stuff in the kitchen, and moved my cat resting on it just in time to see the second goal. Didn’t need to see more than that.

Wish there were penalties for "lack of action" or whatever when the Blues did that defensive shell thing.

You have to make an effort to get out of your own end and not just sit there waiting.

That's NOT professional Hockey.

Sure it's professional hockey. You don't like it? Go take the puck away. It might not be exciting, but they won the game, within the rules, and that's the point.

Yes, "within the rules" which is MY point when I said I wished there was a penalty for "lack of action or aggressiveness" but there isn't.

And it's NOT hockey.

At least it's not FUN hockey anyway.

I mean who, besides the team's fans, would enjoy watching a team just stay in the defensive end...defending and not doing anything else?

Correct me if I 'm wrong but I imagine not even the Devils of the Trap-Era did this.
