The salaries are almost identical after those two moves as well. They’re not the moves that bring in a big name people drool over but it brings in two players who can slot in our depth and provide physicality while contributing all over the ice.
Yeah -- noticed that as well.
I still would never consider that massive overpayment for Crouse, especially just to push Mikheyev down to the 4th line. Mikheyev should be getting more ice time than Crouse.
We shouldn't forget what Montreal did to our offence last year -- notably the Hyman-Matthews-Marner line; and why Ritchie was acquired in the first place. Bunting is smaller than Hyman. Crouse, much like Ritchie is there in case you need somebody to park themselves infront of the net and cause havoc.
Philippe Myers is a real risk and I'm not advocating going for it, but if there's any time to land a 6'5" guy with the kind of upside that was attached to him, it would only happen if he wasn't performing well. So you kind of have to balance the upside of a distressed asset vs the impossibility of acquiring a Myers type player who was living up to expectations.
Absolutely. If Myers was playing well, he'd be untouchable. I guess the question / concern for me is... let the debate be between Myers and Mayfield. This team needs to go far in the playoffs this year, do we trust in Myers alongside Muzzin to be able to do it?
