This is such a weird thing, I don't know why so many people think this way. You don't need a bunch of players with the same skill-sets. That's why I think Hall-McDavid-MacKinnon would just be redundant.

And I really do think America's team is good enough to win gold, although I think any of Canada/USA/Sweden/Finland have great chances. Their roster will be at a good age for this era (before vets like Kessel are done but with their new upcoming core entering their primes) and features many complete, two-way players.

I was thinking Olympics as I consider that the most meaningful tournament. They haven't really done anything in the Olympics over the last 15 years or so (not including 2018 which is a joke). The politics of team Russia does makes their roster worse though.
