Would have preferred to keep Hayes long term, but who knows how this will turn out?

If Jets go deep in playoffs, don't see the pick as having great value.

Know nothing about Lemieux other than what's written in this thread.

Imagine the Rangers will be worse next season.

Why stop at two? I say four. And a coupon for a 50% oil change at Jiffy Lube.
Off Topic: I hope McQuaid stays. If he's still a Ranger after 3pm today I'm celebrating. I think he helps our young D develop well.

The Hockey Guy on YouTube says we won this trade, hands down.

I always had hayes going west I still feel from what I've heard that the Rangers want to try and bring him back this summer if possible. sending him west to a team they don't believe he'd be interested in staying with furthers that belief along.

but who knows I hear we're going to be very in on Panarin and there are still rumors about EK. hayes money isn't there if those two come aboard.
Wouldn't surprise me if Gorton looks at bringing Hayes back as a plan B of sorts if Panarin doesn't sign here.

Obviously different players and positions, but I mean from the cap. Like Gorton and Quinn love Hayes but they needed to free that money up to potentially sign Panarin and maybe Gorton is thinking if Panarin doens't come here that he can try and sign Hayes.

Obviously way too much to happen between now and July 1, just a thought I had.

Top-3 protection on that Jets 1st rounder is about as useful as flyscreen on a submarine. They are a lock for playoffs.

Meh return, but apparently the "rental"-tag is just what it is. (wasn't for Nash though, maybe the market was different last year)

Someone wrote Jets-Lightning finals ... why?! Tampa is obvious, but why would we care if the Peg makes it to the Finals?

100% we want the Jets to implode in the first round AINEC
We wouldnt care, really. J.....E......T......S.......hey, hey, Hayes!

Sorry but all subjectivity aside, there is only one way we would want these POs to play out.

The Jets drop out in the first round. The Stars make it to the WCF. Tampa wins the Cup.

That's it.
Root for Hayes and Zucc to do well but yes need the Jets to drop to second in division and lose in first two rounds.

Probably already been pointed out but this first might as well be a second. The Jets are really a solid team and probably will advance far in the playoffs.

We have plenty of ammo to move up either with our pick or this pick

Why do people always say this? The first is a first, not “might as well be a second”. A low first is a low first, and a high second is a high second.

But for all intents and purposes the end of the first round and the start of the second could literally be one pick so that's why it is said.

I'm sorry but this is broken logic. You're comparing the first of a PO bound team, the only 'buyers', to a bottom feeder? I'd rather a late first from a PO bound team than a late second from a PO bound team because those are the only options. Sure, I'd rather a first from a bottom 10 team versus a PO team, but no one's giving you a top 10 pick for a pending UFA at the TDL.

Hope for the Jets to lose quickly so the pick isn't as low.

Regardless. The more "ammo" we have for that 6 shooter, the better we are.
A team may need "quantity" in next years draft, like we did last year and maybe still do. But, if we can, why wouldnt we trade 3 of our 1st's for that SPECIAL ONE?
What if Edmonton decides on trading McDavid for.....
Oh forget it. They're not that stupid.

What if Ottawa or L.A. would do something like that?
