I think the Jets would be interested in trading Coop for a healthy Anderson. The big question is Anderson healthy? Ever since his injury and operation a few years ago has he recovered enough to play his game?

Weird proposal. As a Habs fan, it's a resounding NO.

Habs love Anderson.
Habs wouldn't retain 2M$ for 5 years. That's just madness.
Copp is UFA after this season. Habs wouldn't resign him for the money he would ask.

So i don't think it's feasible before trade Deadline unless Jets pay a big premium. If Jets are not in the playoffs picture comes trade deadline, trade Copp for picks and use them for Anderson this summer.

Anderson at full salary would cost a 1st and solid prospect. If you want Habs to retain for 4 years, even only 1 M$, you add big time.

Copp*

Both teams say no. Habs know that Anderson can be better, they also have no reason to retain on him and hes under team control for way longer. Jets like Copps versatility, I'm sure they'd like Anderson but they wouldn't want to pay whatever + MTL needs to get this done.

Ya no, Habs are not going to retain on Anderson especially to acquire a guy that is the same age and has scored less goals in way more games played. And to boot he is a UFA so they trade a guy that is signed and pay a big chunk of his salary for the next couple of years and have nothing in return but a small bit of cap space they don't currently need as they rebuild.

Montreal isn't taking on a rental at the deadline. At best, they'd be acting as a middle-man to flip Copp for picks/prospects, which they have no reason to do. I'm sure they'd just prefer to get picks/prospects for Anderson over the off-season, and not be limited by time in doing so. And they definitely wouldn't want to be retaining to do it, either.

Why would the Habs retain for 5 years on a guy for a UFA? Can't see any team interested in that.

As a non Habs fan, I can’t see why Montreal does this. Anderson is far from their worst contract. Why dump him for a pending UFA the Habs are unlikely to resign.

And the Habs retain for several years at $2mm per.

The more I think of it, this is absolute garbage for Montreal. This is a candidate for sneaky worst proposal I’ve ever seen on this site. Sneaky because Copp has value as a rental to a contender but you just stole a ton of cap space from Montreal, a bottom feeder with zero 2022 playoff aspirations. It’s a horrific trade for Montreal when you think of the consequences here.

And I’m definitely not a Habs supporter. This should be locked up and the OP needs the penalty box. Misconduct, unsportsmanlike conduct, any number of infractions.

the only way to fix this mess is if the Jets add several unprotected first round picks to compensate for the eight figures of stolen cap space on Anderson’s retention.

Wow. That's a shit proposal like I've rarely seen.

So we retains 2M$ for 5 years, to get what?
A guy that we'll have to resign?
Copp is >= Anderson IMO but c'mon bro.

And there's not even a draft pick lol
Disgraceful proposal.
