Depending how he approached it, but more than likely probably not.
I see the Durant comparison but people forget why everybody got mad at him for it. Durant left a legitimate 60+ win team, loaded with talent that came within a game of sending home a Warriors team that just set the record for wins in the regular season after being up 3-1. He then proceeded to leave for that very same team which obviously didn't need him. Not a good look but then he puts out a an article taking about how he was taking "the hardest road." There is nothing hard about you, a former MVP leaving for a team that had already established itself as one of the best ever assembled.
If McDavid leaves and just states he wants to win and he felt his prior situation was not conductive to that? Fair play. You gave 11 seasons to that team and they mostly took advantage of you.
