Obviously Milbury takes the cake, but I didnt realise it was Craig Button that was responsible for all these horrible moves in the early 2000 as GM of Calgary:

Put Martin St Louis on waivers (picked up by TB)

Traded Marc Savard to ATL for Ruslan Zainullin

Traded JS Giguere for a 2nd (#43 Matt Pettinger) in order to protect Fred Brathwaite in the expansion draft.

Its not Milbury bad, but I would say hes pretty damn close given how good MSL and Savard ended out being.
I mean, cant say for certain, but safe to say they coulda/woulda won that Cup in 04. Question is would it have been Kipper or Giguere?

I’d say that’s Milbury level bad.

And his prospect list is shit too.

Milbury is probably the worst GM, but Chia had a legendary run of bad moves in such a short time that kept getting worst as the team got worst.

Reinhart trade, Hall trade, Lucid signing, Eberle to StroMe to Spooner, taking the bad Manning (Mcdavid enemy) off of somebody's hands, and then even right before finally getting fired he extended Koskinen for no reason.

I could be wrong but we were never going to pick these players even if we kept the picks.
maybe, but Chabot was the only Dman ranked around 16th. Next Dmen to go were: 25th (Juulsen), 26th (J.Larsson) and 29th (G.Carlsson)..... Couldve taken Samsonov acutally.

as for 33rd, yeah, who knows.

I have to wonder if he was pressured into making more moves than he normally would have to be competitive in a time they shouldn’t have tried to be, or if he is just an idiot. That Manning trade was so bad, but it was due to injury. Maybe he felt he would lose his job if he didn’t do anything.

3 move combo made from late May 2016 to July 1st 2016.

1. 19 year old recent 24th overall pick who already made the nhl plus 33rd overall for Erik Gudbranson.

2. Drafted Olli Juolevi 5th overall

3. Signed Loui Eriksson to a 6 year $36m deal.

Guddy is getting scratched by Ottawa. Olli can’t make a bottom 10 lineup in his draft plus 5. And Eriksson doesn’t play and has one more season next year at $6m caphit.

Not sure how that didn’t lead to a firing.

its bad for sure, but drafting EP over Glass/Andersson/Mittlestadt was exceptional considering EP was ranked around 8th iirc.

Boeser 23rd was a steal too..... Jet Woo over Romanov, though, not so much (although Romanov was an off the board pick)

After you all make your case and declare the worst GM you can then award him second place to the champ Mike Milbury. So many bad deals
yep

Luongo
Chara
Spezza (#2OA)
Palffy
Bertuzzi
O.Jokinen
McCabe

and ended up with who in the end? Yashin, Linden, T.Pyatt, Kvasha, Parrish, and some no names

I mean they wouldve had Palffy for more of his prime year after 99, then peak/prime Bertuzzi 01-05, prime Spezza circa 05-12, peak Jokinen 05-08... oh dont forget Chara and Luongo for about 15 great seasons!

Take the Savard one with a grain of salt. Calgary was cheap then and that was basically a cap dump trade.
