Unlike the "best" logo series, where I found the results baffling, the worst logo series is going exactly how I thought it would. The trash really sank to the bottom here.

The case for Anaheim: It doesn't do a logo's job of making you think of a duck, or the Anaheim Hockey team. So instant fail there. It's also painfully boring, and uses a mostly unpleasing colour scheme. But at least it's not offensive to the eyes.

The case for LA: It's logo-within-a-logo is the worst design choice in the entire NHL, and I would struggle to find a worse artistic choice in a logo anywhere. It's like writing with two different fonts, it looks terrible and amateur. The black and white is also super boring for a company focused on entertainment.

It's a dead heat. I went with LA by a hair just based on personal preference.

While LA is worse from a design-principles standpoint, at least it looks kind of OK from far away. Like when you see it on a jersey or hat. And you can see “LA” and a crown and reasonably guess which team you’re looking at. And there’s a well intentioned concept (although a misguided one) behind taking elements from all prior logos and trying to make them work together. It failed, but at least they tried.

The duck print is just ugly anywhere. It communicates nothing about the team. The color scheme is hideous. It checks every box and you can’t even spin it as an attempt at something clever. It belongs in the final against the Caps.

Yep. That's the unforgivable part here. Without knowing it's for the Ducks, no one would even guess at first sight that it's supposed to be a duck's foot, or the letter D.

I picked LA for personal preference, I just don't find the duck foot as ugly as most do. But I'm totally OK with Anaheim moving on. No logo does a worse job.

It really is incredible that Southern California can be so bereft of anything resembling fun or colors.

Logo? LAK.

But the drop-off from the old look to current logo, colors, kit is ANA by a mile. Unforgivable.

The LA logo is super basic and boring and bland.

But the ducks logo is downright atrocious, I don't even know what that's supposed to be. It's some weird looking shape. Is this supposed to be a duck somehow?

Voted ducks.

The Mighty Ducks had such an awesome logo in the past, it's a shame they changed it

If the Ducks were smart, they’d use the OG logo and they’d be in the final four for BEST logo.

As it is, the Kings logo is clean and simple. The Ducks logo is simply aesthetically unpleasant.

I don't get why the kings can't just use the crown that's already in the logo. Why do they insist adding a ridiculously amateur looking coat of arms imitation and a terrible font around it. It looks like some second grader drew some extra shit around the real logo while being bored in class. The ducks logo is terrible and a real business crime to change (yeah yeah i know..) one of the most recognizable and merch selling logos into this, but what LA has done is just unacceptable and a huge middle finger for all graphic designers.

To be clear, the current logo is a combination of all their prior logos.

Shield from 1967, crown placement from 1975/87, colors from 1988, “LA” and font from 1998, crown design from 2002.

The shield design that pisses everyone off so much has been part of their logo for 43 of their 56 year history.
