As far as NHL experience, 1999 Habs draft with 1 NHL game for their whole draft and not even with us. Matt Carkner was released and picked up by San Jose who later gave him 1 NHL game. Obviously there's time for him to be recalled again but so far, that draft is one of the worst in history (though 1999 for everybody was pretty weak....)

Who can do better than this... ;)

Edmonton's 1990, zero NHL games:

1990
17 W Scott Allison
38 D Alexander Legault
59 L Joe Crowley
67 L Joel Blain
101 G Greg Louder
122 F Keijo Sailynoja
143 G Mike Power
164 Roman Mejzlik
185 F Richard Zemlicka
206 C Petr Korinek
248 D Sami Nuutinen

1989
3 C Scott Thornton
12 R Rob Pearson
21 D Steve Bancroft
66 D Matt Martin
96 D Keith Carney
108 D Dave Burke
125 W Mike Doers
129 Keith Merkler
150 D Derek Langille
171 Jeff St. Laurent
192 F Justin Tomberlin
213 R Mike Jackson
234 F Steve Chartrand

Toronto Maple Leafs 1989 draft performance was probably the worst, considering they had 3 first round picks and all three of them sucked. Everybody else was just crap too.

In Carolina History: 2001
15 Igor Knyazev
46 Mike Zigomanis
91 Kevin Estrada
110 Rob Zepp
181 Daniel Boisclair
211 Sean Curry
244 Carter Trevisani
274 Peter Reynolds

89 and 96 can give it a prety good run for its money, but I still think 01 is more unspectacular at this point.

New York Rangers 1999

Pavel Brendl
Jamie Lundmark
David Inman
Johan Asplund
Patrick Aufiero
Garrett Bembridge
Jay Dardis
Arto Laatikainen
Evgeny Gusakov
Petter Henning
Alexei Bulatov

The only players who have made it to the NHL were Brendl and Lundmark, who will go down in history as the biggest waste of two top 10 picks in the same draft year.

The Leafs' '89 draft totaled over a 1000 career NHL games, so it wasn't all that bad. The three Belleville picks just underachieved big time.

1999 was brutal for Toronto, 3 NHL games.

24 C Luca Cereda
60 D Peter Reynolds
108 L Mirko Murovic
110 D Jonathan Zion
151 D Vaclav Zavoral
161 F Jan Sochor
211 G Vladimir Kulikov
239 D Pierre Hedin
267 D Peter Metcalf

To be fair, neither Scott Thornton nor Keith Carney can be considered crap. Sure they didn't do anything for the Leafs, but they still turned out to be solid NHLers.

For the Sharks, it's actually pretty hard to pick a flat out terrible class. Almost every year San Jose manages to get at least one or two decent players.

That said, 1995 got off to a terrible start thanks to Teemu Riihijarvi taken at #12, but later on that draft produced Vesa Toskala and Miikka Kiprusoff.

2000 would probably have to be the worst. No 1st round pick, Tero Maata was a compelte flop as the team's 1st selection, and the only skater with NHL experience is Chad Wiseman's 8 games with the Rangers. However that draft still did net Nolan Schaefer, a serviceable goaltender who would be in the NHL if he wasn't stuck behind Nabokov and Toskala.

Our 2003 isn't exactly the brightest either. :help:

Devs...circa '97 or '99...hard to decide which year was more craptacular.

(NHL games total in brackets)

1997
24 G Jean-Francois Damphousse (6)
38 L Stanislav Gron (1)
104 D Lucas Nehrling
131 L Jiri Bicek (62)
159 D Sascha Goc (22)
188 R Mathieu Benoit
215 G Scott Clemmensen (17)
241 D Jan Sorinko

1999
27 G Ari Ahonen
42 D Mike Commodore (129)
50 L Brett Clouthier
95 D Andre Lakos
100 D Teemu Kesa
185 L Scott Cameron
214 C Chris Hartsburg
242 F Justin Dziama

All filler, no killer!...Mike Commodore is Conte's '99 saviour thus far!

Hawks '89

6 D Adam Bennett
27 D Mike Speer
48 D Bob Kellogg
111 F Tommi Pullola
132 R Tracy Egeland
153 D Milan Tichy
174 Jason Greyerbiehl
195 Matt Saunders
216 Mike Kozak
237 G Mike Doneghey

Our worst was 1967 though. One pick, and he never played a game :D

Since ill say about 1990, the wings worst draft was:

1995
26 D Maxim Kuznetsov
52 L Philippe Audet
58 C Darryl Laplante
104 F Anatoly Ustyugov
125 D Chad Wilchynski
126 G Dave Arsenault
156 C Tyler Perry
182 R Per Eklund
208 F Andrei Samokhvalov
234 L David Engblom

or

49 L Yuri Butsayev
76 C Petr Sykora
102 L Quintin Laing
129 D John Wikstrom
157 R B.J. Young
186 Mike Laceby
213 Steve Wilejto
239 D Greg Willers

What happened to Pierre Hedon I thought he was suppose to be a solid player.

Flyers 92 draft was terrible. Wasted 2 1st rd picks that they could have used to help lindross:

7 L Ryan Sittler
15 L Jason Bowen
31 L Denis Metlyuk
103 D Vladislav Boulin
127 D Roman Zolotov
151 G Kirk Daubenspeck
175 R Claude Jutras
199 Jonas Hakansson
223 C Chris Herperger
247 L Patrice Paquin

99 was bad as well:

22 G Maxime Ouellet
119 D Jeff Feniak
160 F Konstantin Rudenko
200 F Pavel Kasparik
208 L Vaclav Pletka
224 David Nystrom

Just in the '90s for the Capitals....'94-'96, '98-'99

Worst bust of talent in the draft for the Capitals in recent memory is either the '96 or '99 in the 1st and 2nd rounds where it matters the most

1996
4 R Alexandre Volchkov (bust)
17 L Jaroslav Svejkovsky (bust b/c of concussions)
43 C Jan Bulis (reliable player but nowhere near where he was projected to be)
58 D Sergei Zimakov
74 G David Weninger
78 C Shawn McNeil
85 R Justin Davis
126 L Matt Lahey
153 R A.J. Van Bruggen
180 W Mike Anderson
206 D Oleg Orekhovsky
232 C Chad Cavanagh

1999
7 C Kris Beech (hasnt lived up to expectations)
29 C Michal Sivek (bust)
31 C Charlie Stephens (bust before he was even drafted)
34 D Ross Lupaschuk (bust)
37 D Nolan Yonkman (finally healthy, but still not playing a ton)
132 L Roman Tvrdon
175 R Kyle Clark
192 D David Johansson
219 F Maxim Orlov

I'm with PSU 100%. Tvordon is kicking around in Tampa org. Beech may have some hope.

He's playing in Germany now.

I thought he looked pretty solid in his short tenure with the Leafs. He could have been a decent 6th/7th defensemen for us if there weren't so many of those types coming up through the organization right now.

Bembridge is currently lighting it up with the Portland Pirates (Ducks affilate) and he may be signed by Anaheim. :) GO BEMBY!!!
