USA deserved that one for sure. Canadian coach is actually brutal, and Canada was so much slower than the Americans it was laughable. They tried the same thing going up the boards on the right side probably 6-7 times during OT and it didn't work every time.

They really need to re-think their staffing and player selection. Maybe get a coach who actually has some high level/international coaching experience or even somewhat a winning record would be nice. You cant tell me she was the best option. Her coaching stats are actually awful. And they need to get some young players with speed on that team. Nurse made 2 great rushes in OT on the 2 shifts she got and then just wasn't played. It was gross watching them slug around the ice while the US skated circles around them.

USA has the hotter team, no doubt about it, and the most skilled team as well. They outplayed Canada big time in that OT.

Don't think USA men's hockey will ever be #1 considering they have our 4th tier athletes, where as in most of the other countries hockey is the premier sport.

Our top athletes play more lucrative sports that are also more accessible like football, basketball, baseball, and hell... even soccer is offered in every school.

I disagree. Look at Auston Matthews. We are producing more players out of places like, wait for it...Arizona now.

I mean, who would have EVER thought?

That said... Canada will always be number one. They are just the best. And they literally breath hockey up there. Been to three provinces, played their teams, have family there - they are just always going to own the game.

Get Team Canada a new Strength and conditioning coach, they couldn't skate with the US.

Plus those fly by stick checks didn't work once all game and they kept doing them and missing resulting in odd man rushes the other way.

For everyone complaining about the shootout it was Canada playing for the shootout

They basically kept 2 defenders back the entire OT until the PP, and wasn’t even attempting to attack.

Who cares. They won in shootout lmao.

And canada deserved to lose with that pathetic effort.

But still pretty funny that usa needed a random shootout to win tho. Haha takes away from the win imo. Ot goal wouldve meant more.

Would have the same view if our team won? Shoutouts in championship games have been part of international hockey for quite some time now. We may not like it but it does not ever take away from the win.

Jesus no kidding. I looked up her coaching record:

2006–07 Northeastern5262
2005–06 Northeastern8241
2004–05 Northeastern3254
2003–04 UMass-Boston13121

And last year coaching Dartmouth:

Is this really the best coach we could find?

Maybe ..but aren't the Americans a younger team? I thought I heard them say that there are 10 players for the US who haven't been in an Olympics yet.
Canada will definitely have to retool and get younger as well.
