It's an incredibly stupid rule. A league starving for attention doing its best to eliminate offense for completely irrelevant reasons.

Leafs were lucky as hell. That should've been a good goal for the Oilers. I always hate that a great play leading to a good goal is wiped out because someone is 'offside' by an inch or two. Just so dumb and it takes away from the game so much when you never know if a goal is a goal anymore. If it were me I'd make it a rule that as long as you were within a few inches of the redline as the puck is going in, then that's good enough. Only players who are way offside should a goal be called back.

I'm not gonna shit on them because losing OEL was big and the refs let Edmonton commit numerous penalties

Skinner alone clamped down on 3 sticks and got them a pp for his 1st effort

All true. But the problem is that they looked the same as they have in recent games.

PP clicked, and Skinner kinda stunk. He might be the downfall of the Oilers in a few months.

We already know how good Woll could be.

So the takeaway continues to be, the goalies have to be stellar for this team to win.

Not a recipe for success.

Compared to 2021 when the Leafs were ahead, Edmonton took several steps forward as contenders and experienced a lot of post season success along the way. Their stars play with a serious edge and they have that urgency. Leafs don’t feel like they’ve really grown at all despite glimpses here and there.

A lot of it was the Oilers not making the playoffs and making them make changes instead of thinking, they are close.
Most importantly, McD and Drai just got better and better in playoffs while our top guys are stuck.

Once the Oilers dispatch of the Kings in round one, COL, DAL, EDM, VEG are going to Duke it out from there.

The West is tough, but Drai is huge difference maker.

Florida isn't going to the Cup final this season, but Edmonton absolutely could.

Edmonton has a beast mode switch. Leafs dont. But I still believe they'll find it real soon.

The problem is their five top paid players aren’t beasts and never will be. They’re happy just being Gods.

Honestly, I think it will depends on Vegas. If both teams are healthy, it is going to be a battle.
I do think the team coming out of the Pacific will be in the Cup Finals as Central is going to be a bloodbath.
