Woll has some consistency issues but good lord when he is locked in he plays like a top 10 goalie in the league. Also f*** Edmonton.
he's went head to head with playoff bob, and was almost even considering the games he properly played
he went up against playoff swayman and actually outdueled him

when he's on, there are very very few goalies up there with him.

They didn't blow up a 3 goal lead in NJ.

This one is trillion times worse.
i think being outshot 3 times to 1 might make up a bit of that

also having 0 injuries and still getting outplayed was bad too

either way team was not good at all and won because woll became dominik hasek..not a great strategy if you want to win a cup

We don’t see Edmonton very often but they’re probably going back to the SCF. They have a few brain farts but they have guys that can overcome it.
Edmonton is scary bc they have TWO players that can win a series on their own.
And playoffs is about special teams and they also have one of the best PP in the league.

They just need solid goaltending and will go far.

Lucky tonight
Nah.
Never apologize for goaltending, especially when you complain every time we don't have it.
This. Woll is a player. What's the difference if Matthews scores 6 goals and wins a game or Woll stands over his head to win a game. Same shit.
Go leafs go. We won. Oilers lost. Suckas

Good game. Leafs were sucking recently and Edmonton was on a roll. We should have known we’d win lol.

great game by Woll though. Not our best performance but I’m more fine being outplayed by a good game and stealing a game than being outplayed by a bottom feeder and stealing one.

Really liked that Marner goal too, definitely the type of goals I like to see. Just great team passing play and solid finish too.

Leafs were lucky as hell. That should've been a good goal for the Oilers. I always hate that a great play leading to a good goal is wiped out because someone is 'offside' by an inch or two. Just so dumb and it takes away from the game so much when you never know if a goal is a goal anymore. If it were me I'd make it a rule that as long as you were within a few inches of the redline as the puck is going in, then that's good enough. Only players who are way offside should a goal be called back.
For some, an inch or two are huge difference, lol.

I agree with what you said though.

Not sure. The west playoffs are going to be a beaut!

Once the Oilers dispatch of the Kings in round one, COL, DAL, EDM, VEG are going to Duke it out from there.

then that just means expanding the line's thickness, then what happens if they are a few inches off of that? Basically then when do you draw the line and say "this is where it is no longer a goal". Can't just say blatant because wtf does that mean.

like it or not, that call is made regardless of who it is against, we were on the good side here but plenty of times in the past have been on the wrong side of it.

An exciting game but the mirage continues. Berube will have the same run as Keefe unfortunately. He is part of the clubhouse now lol.

Leafs are going to have to correct some mistakes if possible. Just a general comment, not related to this game, Domi probably needs to go to free up cap and upgrade, I was leary of him as a pick up and he showed flashes, but his passion he had when he first arrived is gone. He's no longer on the 1st line and he's no longer chasing a contract. Robertson is a sweet enough player to be part of a deal as well though he has been strong of late and will score 20 goals somewhere.

They need McMann playing with two strong players for a deep playoff roster. This is going to require some creativity.

It's clear to me this team doesn't have it. Their only hope is a spectacular duo of Stolarz-Woll and a complete commitment to defense. These 4-3 and 5-4 games are not going to occur in the playoffs very often. If the league actually called the game straight and consistent, than maybe, but the playoffs in the NHL are always played in the mud.

Any team if they receive lights out goaltending can win a Cup, that is how critical a great goalie is. If the team tries to win shootouts, it decreases the possibility of such goaltender performances. Playoff teams are hungry and if Leafs don't play a strong, structured defensive game, they will get steamrolled.

Compared to 2021 when the Leafs were ahead, Edmonton took several steps forward as contenders and experienced a lot of post season success along the way. Their stars play with a serious edge and they have that urgency. Leafs don’t feel like they’ve really grown at all despite glimpses here and there.
