Part of it is residual frustration over Englebert doing nothing for years to grow the game and now they finally are, they feel she's not using it for social justice... I guess?
The WNBA is far more progressive a sports platform than other leagues but unfortunately it also has to contend with advertising which is often beholden to trends outside of the WNBA. And while pundits would love to see their agendas (both progressive and reactionary) pushed, when Englebert was hired, they had her hired for a reason.
And I can't believe I just defended her.
