1 - Nylander
2 - Keller
3 - Strome
4 - Kaprizov
5 - Asplund
6 - Barzal
7 - Roslovic
8 - Kuokannen
9 - Petersson
10 - Juolevi

1 point for guessing a player in the top 10.
3 additional points if you guess a player's exact final position.
2 additional points if you guess within a spot of the player's final position.
1 additional point if you guess within 2 spots of the player's final position.

If two players are tied on points, the tiebreakers will be as follows:
#1 - GP
#2 - Goals

If they are still tied, the players will finish in the same position in the standings and the points will be distributed accordingly.

Good luck :)

Feel like the last two should be flipped, and what if players tie for a position, which they surely will?

Top ten could be 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 3rd, 5th, 5th, 7th, 7th, 7th, 7th.

Doesn't the IIHF rank based on games played then goals or something? That would give a true top 10.

I'd say use tiebreakers to break the ties. If players are tied then the one who did it in less games is ahead, still tied then the one who got more goals is ahead. If they're still tied then they remain tied, and both get reported as if they're in the same spot.

So if 2 guys tie for 7th after using these tiebreakers and you have 1 in the 7th spot you get 4 points, if you have 1 in the 6th or 8th spot you get 3, 5th or 9th spot 2, anywhere else in the top 10 1.

I like this solution - I'll add it to the OP.

I definitely underthought the rules of this game when I made this thread

Traditionally, scoring ties are broken by whichever player has more goals, rather than the fewest games. Ask Wayne Gretzky. That's how he lost what would have been a scoring title in his first year to Marcel Dionne. IIHF uses that tiebreaker as well.

I think that's dumb, so I suggested the other way.

I mean logically which is tougher? scoring 2 goals and 5 assists in 6 games, or scoring 3 goals and 4 assists in 7 games? 7 points in 6 games is clearly better than 7 points in 7 games

I agree. I always thought that they had it the wrong way around. However many people see goals as more important than assists. But I've always been a set-up man so.....

I agree that goals are more important than assist when breaking ties but putting up identical points in less games should have first priority.

Oh well whatever system we take as long as it's defined before we begin there shouldn't be an issue

But what is hardest to get 7 goals in 7 games or 7 secondary assists in 6 games?

I would say 7 goals in 7 are way harder and a bigger achievement.I would say its also better than 7 primary assists in 6 games. Of course if all those 7 primary assists where "godly" you could argue the other way around, but normally goals 7 goals in 7 games are more impressing than 7 assists in 6 games.

So I would say it goes both ways. Goals are harder to get than assists and thats why its often the deciding factor.

There are 10 teams in the tournament. I'll let you do the math on the probability of every team having a player in the top 10. ;)

Oh wait, there are 10? For some reason i remembered that it's only the big 6. Eating my words then.

PS. I'm stupid, ofc there's 10.
