Lysell as the 13th forward? That's quite the indictment from the coach. Can't say it's undeserved though. Lysell needed to be a leader for this team and his play remains literally and figuratively pointless.

Always a tough game for the teams to get up for, so it'll be interesting to see who comes out ready to play.

I still like the US based on talent alone. 4-1 win for the States.

Lysell was benched shortly into the 3rd period yesterday, and when he had his post game interview he said (in Swedish) "I'm so f***ing bad this whole tournament. Don't know what I'm doing."

So not too shocking he'sat 13F, though he has had a very long leash. We'll see if he gets to see the ice like Lekkerimäki when he was 13F, or won't see it like Odelius at 7D.

I think it said a lot when a player with his skill didn't touch the ice in 3v3 OT in the semi final. He has had a horrid tournament.

Yeah, you'd think that format would have been well suited to his skill set, but he clearly list the confidence of his coach.... and himself apparently.

And it's weird. The whole point was to send him from being a PPG player in the AHL and then let him go dominate in that tourney and build confidence against his peers using what he has learned playing against men. And he just tried to be a one man show and it didn't work. I dunno if it's a learning experience for him or an indictment that something is wrong with the player upstairs.

I'm sure it's just a slump. I think he'll recover nicely, but like you said, you hope to send a player to this tourney for a quick confidence boost. Hockey is a cruel game sometimes.
