Speculation: With Copp out for the season and Husso traded. Wings got $14m in cap space. What should Yzerman and co do with it?

I bet he goes and get a Yanni Gourde if the price isn't too. A reliable bottom pairing right shot on an expiring contract would make sense too.
I don’t think the Wings spend big this year. Probably look to some small things to maybe push Fischer and Holl out of the line up just enough to give the team a Pat on the back for a good second half of the season.
The team is still developing. If they can hang on and get a round of playoff hockey in it will be great for the team going forward. Give Raymond, Seider, Edvinsson, Kasper, Johansson and Larkin (it’s been so long)that taste of what is expected in the playoffs.
The Wings are becoming a real fun team to watch these days. The haters have run for cover. The development of their young players has been what Wings fans have been hoping for years now. I really can’t wait to see how Edvinsson progresses over the next couple years. The sky is the limit for this kid.

Yzerman doesn't seem like the guy to badly overpay on a guy's current value, and VAN would be foolish to trade EP40 at his current diminished value.

9.5M is too much for a second pairing D (he’d obviously be behind Seider on the right side). Even with 2.5M retained that’s too much for what would be asked of him.
Detroit needs a LHD to partner with Seider to send Chiarot down to the third pairing. Detroit’s second pairing of Edvinsson-Albert Johansson has been fantastic. Jones just isn’t a good fit for the wings.
