Could we dump any salary and get any offensive boost for this guy? Who would be desperate enough and what would they pay?
No thanks
Typical Jacket fan response to any trade idea. All our guys individually are too valuable to trade; its just collectively that they suck.
I've said this before, but now that there's a devoted thread to it I'll do it one more time: Wiz is very valuable as a scorer and very detrimental as a defender. We all notice his mistakes but the Jackets also score a lot when he is on the ice. The problem is that the coach won't use him as just an offensive specialist.
Re: his alleged NTC
Why would Wiz want to stay?
-His career has stalled here.
-He's playing for a mediocre team.
But speaking of trading a D - Johnson has a very movable contract and doesn't have any trade restrictions.
To Edmonton for a young forward and a pick? To Colorado? (although at 12-1 they probably aren't going to screw with things) Philly?
If the offer was right I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Yes, it is coincidence. Should I list all the players in the NHL with NMCs who are playing well? Here's a sample size:
Brad Richards
Duncan Keith
Joe Thornton
Corey Perry
Ryan Getzlaf
The list goes on. Umberger and Wiz are playing poorly because they're just not that good. That wouldn't change if they didn't have NMCs on their contracts.
To think we coulda kept Hejda for prolly 2 mil less a year.
Both Umberger and Wiz $$ and play on ice is killing us. And yet theyre the ones with NMC's...coincidence?
Is Hejda even in the league anymore?
He's on the Avs
I'd love a Kris Russell- Jan Hejda pairing right about now.
What are the restrictions of a NMC? Could we even buy him out if the front office made that decision?
He likes living here and is getting paid. Those were the two major reasons why he signed here in the first place. He could have gone to a team that was closer to competing than the Jackets (like Detroit) but decided not to.
Not saying he wouldn't waive, but IIRC going deep in the playoffs was lower on his priority list than living and wage. Maybe that's changed in the past 2 years? Who knows.
That would concern me. Seems he just wanted to get paid cause that was his 1st priority, not winning. Too bad the CBJ get stuck with a player like this, as it was the previous regime desperate to do anything, including getting players who value money over winning. He doesnt have the heart to lead this team anywhere. There is no way this guy is worth only 300K less than Seabrook or the same as Keith, and those 2 are leaders and worth the money they make for the Hawks and for Team Canada
