Typical Jacket fan response to any trade idea. All our guys individually are too valuable to trade; its just collectively that they suck.

Not saying they aren't, but he's racking in points, and we kinda need those.

Good luck trading Wiz. His salary is way too high for any team in need of a PP QB/#4 defenseman. He also has a NMC and modified NTC so he likely isn't going anywhere unless he wants to.

I've said this before, but now that there's a devoted thread to it I'll do it one more time: Wiz is very valuable as a scorer and very detrimental as a defender. We all notice his mistakes but the Jackets also score a lot when he is on the ice. The problem is that the coach won't use him as just an offensive specialist.

Columbus won't get value from him.

Also most of our offense comes from our blueline. I'd definitely be up for trading him, sure, but it'd be tough.

The contract prevents trading.... but his use is a valid point...

Re: his alleged NTC

Why would Wiz want to stay?
-His career has stalled here.
-He's playing for a mediocre team.

But speaking of trading a D - Johnson has a very movable contract and doesn't have any trade restrictions.

To Edmonton for a young forward and a pick? To Colorado? (although at 12-1 they probably aren't going to screw with things) Philly?

If the offer was right I'd do it in a heartbeat.

avs could very much be looking for d help. a guy who can skate, play on top pairing and play with ej.

jmfj isn't perfect but he would fit.

He likes living here and is getting paid. Those were the two major reasons why he signed here in the first place. He could have gone to a team that was closer to competing than the Jackets (like Detroit) but decided not to.

Not saying he wouldn't waive, but IIRC going deep in the playoffs was lower on his priority list than living and wage. Maybe that's changed in the past 2 years? Who knows.

To think we coulda kept Hejda for prolly 2 mil less a year.

Both Umberger and Wiz $$ and play on ice is killing us. And yet theyre the ones with NMC's...coincidence?

Yes, it is coincidence. Should I list all the players in the NHL with NMCs who are playing well? Here's a sample size:

Brad Richards
Duncan Keith
Joe Thornton
Corey Perry
Ryan Getzlaf

The list goes on. Umberger and Wiz are playing poorly because they're just not that good. That wouldn't change if they didn't have NMCs on their contracts.

He got a good deal cause management needed to bring in someone on the D and he got lucky that someone agreed to his salary expectations and was desperate. I said it back then, but that deal is bad for the CBJ. Its not Luongo bad, but at least that player is preforming on how he is being paid. Wiz has a bad contract and is not a good player

I'd love a Kris Russell- Jan Hejda pairing right about now.

What are the restrictions of a NMC? Could we even buy him out if the front office made that decision?

I hope your joking. And if you are, please stop.

Sure you can always buy them out, during the appropriate window. I seen no reason to do so, however.

Someone else will have to answer the modified NTC portion of his contract - Capgeek didn't have the details and I'm too lazy to look or even care all that much.

The NMC portions of contracts are far more meaningless than they used to be since there isn't the same cap relief to sending them down to the AHL.

That would concern me. Seems he just wanted to get paid cause that was his 1st priority, not winning. Too bad the CBJ get stuck with a player like this, as it was the previous regime desperate to do anything, including getting players who value money over winning. He doesnt have the heart to lead this team anywhere. There is no way this guy is worth only 300K less than Seabrook or the same as Keith, and those 2 are leaders and worth the money they make for the Hawks and for Team Canada

I am really not much of a Wiz fan, but I will say a couple of things. I don't see him as a passenger. I don't think he came here to lose. I'm actually more disappointed with JJ to this point than Wiz this season. He's lost the MF portion until he earns it back.

His bonuses are paid and his salary is on the decline. He's helping the PP and scoring some points. I don't expect everyone to be leaders. I see nothing to question his character, so I wouldn't go there.

He only has 3 years and 13 million left after this season. Let's just suck it up and move on. He's worth the last 3 years of the deal.
