It's a shame that Heinola-Schmidt pretty much forces a Dillon-Pionk pairing, cause Heinola-Schmidt was really good last season, and it seemed like both players enjoyed the pairing.

Need to get Brad signed, but he can play in the A on a PTO.

Yeah, I think Heinola is not decided yet.

I question the D pairs. Dillon - Pionk was bad last year. Bad fit or just bad Pionk? Who plays D when Heinola - Schmidt are on together? I'd prefer Dillon - Schmidt and Heinola - Pionk. But who knows? Maybe these pairs work.

Makes sense, Heinola and Perfetti have excellent pp chemistry and Barron has a good shot and is a LS so it opens the slot play. Schmidt as another LS for One timers on the other side of the umbrella.

If that is the second pp unit they want the that is a tell for what direction they are leaning in with regards to dmen.

Figured tonight's lines would be what we should expect to see for opening night more or less. If Heinola doesn't play himself out I think the spot is his. I like him with Schmidt, who I think has quietly been our best defenseman this preseason.

Maenelanen being a placeholder for Appleton doesn't make me confident that he's made the opening night line up. Don't know what to think about Gagner being the extra man, I think he should make it.

Gustafsson is going to make it because he's young and needs waivers. There are better options based on preseason but at his age he needs to play and won't clear. I think he'll be fine but it would have been nice to have him shake off the rust in the AHL with top minutes, harder to do in the NHL on the 4th line and at some point it could start weighing on him.

Totally agree. And that comes as kind of a surprise. Not that anything about Schmidty is ever quiet...

Very interesting Heinola is getting this game where the Jets presumably are close to locking in the opening night lineup. Seems like there's a real chance he can unseat Stanley for that #6 role. Please have a good game Ville

Yep there is a 3rd forward hole on PP2 that seems like a lock for Gagner. I don't think there is anyone else even challenging for that role at the moment.
