For what it's worth I actually took note of that Turner guy in my day at TC. He was noticably lagging behind everyone else doing the conditioning drills in practice day 1. As someone who often lagged behind others in conditioning drills I took some sympathy on him and didn't mention it when I posted on the weekend haha

Bit surprised they released Kneuttel so soon. The Dutch WR had signed very early in the off-season and seemed like he potentially had a shot at a PR spot, particularly with Hansen on IR. But it could be the depth at the Global position got him with Maruo on roster and Machino, Karamoko basically locks for PR. I'm guessing Bombers will try to PR either Sheahan or Schmiltz as well assuming one of them doesn't beat out Liegghio for the P spot.

Why is Karamoko a lock for PR spot... the guys 30 and not exactly lighting up camp

Not gonna lie, I had no idea he was that old. Thought he was 26-28 range, coming out of school in 2018/2019 at 22-24. He was apart of the NFL IPP program in 2022, albeit went unselected.

Even so I was thinking he had a couple decent games on the teams last year. Obviously this guy has 0 chance of ever stepping foot on the field on D. He's #4/5 on the depth chart for Globals anyways. They promoted Machino as an extra OL more often (which is really not needed) than they brought in Karamoko last year.

Wonder if this ends up being as mundane as the CFL in conjunction with the CFLPA finally found a framework to make the Nationalized American rule work. This was supposed to be implemented this year for one long serving American to basically count as Canadian for roster purposes. Bombers in particular it would help with so many long tenured Americans like Bighill, Bryant, Hardrick, Alexander, Rose, etc.

It's a rather odd time for a major announcement.

My other thought is that there will be a way to watch to pre-season games on TV/Streaming.

O'Leary-Orange is closer to being a "surprise" cut than stealing an American players job or even Wolitarsky's without some kind of significant injury situation arising.

He's a classic "can't make the club from the tub" type guy. Lots of missed time and they really like Murphy out of this draft.

You might be onto something...

I'd bet this is the announcement Bauming was teasing...

BOLO has always been a high floor, low ceiling type player. That’s why he lasted so long in the draft. Guy is constantly dinged which really hampers his growth potential with limited practice reps. It’s one thing for Jeffcoat or Bighill with 10+ years in to be taking mental reps in practice all season and show up on game day. Younger or more inexperienced pro players aren’t developing as much without the physical reps.

The other piece for BOLO is he’s not exactly a stud special teams guy where Murphy has more of that body type. You’re also competing with the FB/LB and DB types to get on and stay on the roster depending on how they use the DI’s. Let’s say Grant is out so they DI Agudosi and a backup DB/Demski returns kicks and punts. No need for BOLO on the game day roster then, they’d rather dress another special teams demon LB body type guy.

Demski is to fragile to return kicks.

I Must say I am getting annoyed with us losing stud draft picks we developed into good players only to see them play a couple seasons here, go to the NFL and then come back and sign with another team. There should be some sort of draft compensation for players who are only 4 - 5 years from their original draft years.

What, is this about Kongbo? Or are you still pissed Muamba didn't come back to us? Is there still a part of you that seethes about Ryan deserting us after one year and then many years later, having the NERVE to return to the (spit) Riders?

f***, get over it. We do a good job of attracting free agents. We are more likely to be hurt than helped by such a rule.

Oh well, maybe the Lemonator wants to be on a winner

Sucks, but guaranteed the Bombers talked to him and decided against pursuing it. Kongbo came back to the Bombers for 2021 when he was a FA (Bombers released him following the 2019 season so he could sign in NFL). At this point signing him would likely have meant a release elsewhere, as BC did releasing defending CFL Most Outstanding Defensive Player nominee Shawn Lemon. Kongbo is probably making MORE than Lemon was, due to his passport. Bombers likely decided the price wasn't worth the releases it would require.

Not sure if WPG has any roster room left for a rotational American, but could you imagine if the Bombers landed Lemon out of this? Jeffcoat, Jefferson, Lemon, Bennett, Hansen. Now that would a edge rusher group that should terrify any opposing O's.

You get 4 American backups on the roster (more if you start extra Canadians, which is possible but unlikely for the Bombers). My thinking the is the Bombers will be using 1 on a specialist (K), 1 DB (backup multiple spots + ST play), 1 LB (ST play, they've done this awhile), and 1 WR (Grant + Returns). It'd be really tough to fit in an American, particularly one who does not play ST. Maybe if a Max Charbonneau is as athletic as they like to take the ST duties off the backup American LB maybe they can fit in an American backup on DL.

In other news, CFL football returns today! Yes it's Edm v Cgy pre-season game, but I'm gonna watch. Just cause...I miss real football. Just 6 more days until Bombers football returns. Be nice to start to wash away the frustration of last November. 3 out of 4 is still a dynasty IMO, so let's run this back and create a dynasty.

That's kinda surprising to me. I thought he looked really really good early on in TC here. Harrison has been around for awhile here on the edges of the roster. (EDIT: My guess is Elon has limited cross posting tweets cause he's a moron as always, or just let the company decay and they don't work anymore. Bombers released WR Tavaris Harrison).

Anybody else going to this "Taste of the Blue Bombers" thing tonight? It was VERY pricey, but it seems like it will be fun. I normally am not one who gets too into all these other events that go on around sports teams but this one sounded kind of cool. Apparently there's going to be a bunch of restaurants there, I assume we will get more than enough food (a little taster from each place it sounds like) to make a full dinner haha.

My pal is going. I’ll tell him to say hello to the angsty teenager smoking cigarettes and drinking dry martinis. At least I think that’s what Holden does. Been a while since I read The Catcher in the Rye.

I don't think there's much drinking he's like 15 in the novel I think. I'll be honest it's been at least a decade since I read it. Actually probably something I should re-read at this point LOL.

Event was a lot of fun. A good portion of the vets were out there. Food was hit or miss, but definitely some good stuff in there. The Winnipeg Blue Bombers kitchen was actually one of the best haha, better than 529 if you can believe it.

In all probability like last year ZC will not see any action in the pre season.

Didn't he play a single snap or am I remembering a previous year?

Not that it even matters

Edit: Checked and nope, didn't play at all last pre-season and played both games in the pre-season before that. I wonder if I was remembering a late season game.

Yup. I find it odd they are even bringing him, but I'm guessing they are basically doing it as an extra coach. I expect Pigrome and Jones to get most of the road game tmw. Dru Brown will get most the home game for some more experience.

2021 didn't have any preseason games. Are you thinking of 2019 with Sask? When he then got hurt 3 plays into the season? All the more reason to keep him out haha.

Honestly I don't know who I'm remembering. I remember a QB throwing a ~40 yard pass to Harris, Lawler, or someone else entirely and then the entire starting lineup left the game basically
