Here’s an interesting hypothetical for all of us Bomber fans. Let’s assume the Bombers go 0-18 this year. Would y’all be okay if the organization chalked it up to a fluke and decided to run it back again, or would you like to see some changes made in that situation?

I saw a chart posted on Castillo and the other field goal kickers in the league. I believe it showed that he attempted (or completed?) field goal attempts that were 3 yards longer than Legghio. That doesn't sound like much, but it is over the course of a full season. I think the chart also assigned overall ratings to each field goal kicker based on length of completions and length of attempts. Castillo had the 3rd highest rating in the league and Legghio was either last or second last.

As this point, I would be more comfortable with Castillo as the starting kicker but we will see how things progress in training camp and the pre-season.

I think 0-18 is such a paradigm shift that there'd be tangible reasons for why. Like the entire offensive line getting hurt kind of thing. Reasons like that would excuse a horrible season. I think they've earned enough trust to stick around without too many questions though, even if they narrowly miss the playoffs.
I'm 100% certain I'd be increasingly angry every week even if I'd be able to look past it when it's over though

Is this the chart?

I mean I'm not going to comment on 0-18 cause that just won't happen. But let's say it all goes off the rails, Zach gets hurt, Bryant, Neufeld, Bighill, Jefferson, Thomas have age hit all at once and are trash, Lawler gets suspended for the whole year, Demski, Oliveira, Nichols, Alexander gets hurt, Castillo is as bad as he was last year and the team crashes to a say 6-12 record.

Ok, what now you say? Yeah there's going to be crazy change on the player personnel side. You don't get to a record like that without needing significant change. If by run it back again you mean the O'Shea/Walters combo? Yeah they would get more chances. They've built a near dynasty once, they could do it again. Better odds than anyone else.

Sounds positive. Certain people that are usually fairly in tune with the Bombers seem to think Castillo being available has all but assured the competition is dead. So we'll see. I hope they do take a long look at everyone though.

If this happens now I’m blaming you

Also, you’re more in-tune with this sorta stuff than I, but do you see Castillo handling FGs while Legghio punts? Or would they want an American kicker to do both?

Thanks @gojetsgo , quick on the gun there. Figured O'Shea Jr would get a look here if not signed elsewhere. Saw him mocked as a late round pick a couple times but he went unselected obviously. I think O'Shea probably would have rathered he sign elsewhere, but he'll get a chance to put some film down anyways. Huge longshot to make roster obviously.

O’Shea Jr. Didn’t turn by heads at the CFL evaluation camp, not with a 4.85 40 which is Defensive end speed

Apparently Bombers are going to attempt to transition DL Cole Adamson from DL to OL. Adamson was drafted Rd 4 in 2022 and attended camp last year.

I think it's a shame cause I thought he popped quite a bit in camp last year and I was mildly surprised they even let him go back to school and didn't keep him on the roster all year. He was making a lot plays in pre-season last year, IMO.

The best "success" I can recall from the Bombers moving a DL to OL was Chris Greaves. Who I thought was trash, but did end up as a starter for Edmonton for a couple years. Most don't end up making a roster.

Don't be surprised if a couple of vets are released this year, sometimes you just have to go with the younger player all things considered.

Winston Rose for one is probably on the hotspot. Only 2 of Rose, Houston, and Lawrence end up on the roster, IMO.

Kyrie Wilson is another, his injury troubles may have them look elsewhere. Lots of LBs in camp, including Malik Clements who was solid replacing him last year.

Unlikely considering the discount he publicly took but Raashad Bailey is another one I could see considering the depth behind him pushing him. Agudosi for one, couple of PR guys they brought forward another year in Harrison and Heileigh, and who knows if they found another Schoen.

Rose and Wilson were the 2 I was thinking about, I think Bailey sticks. How about Neufeld?

Anything possible but I have serious doubt that any of the 7 are in any danger. The only real competition is recently converted DL Adamson, who stands almost no chance to stick, likely a PR project in his first camp at OL. Then I guess some rookie American Tackles, but it's beyond rare to carry a backup American OL, even as the scratch.

It will be interesting to see who among the 5 Canadian interior players end up starting though. Remember last time Eli and Gray were on the same roster Eli dressed as the #6 AHEAD of Gray. Kolankowski is kinda a journeyman, but played real solid last year. Dobson is a top end athlete, but I thought he struggled at times in his rookie year last year. He was a late addition though, he improved as the year went on.

Physicals today for vets. I'm guessing at some point today we'll hear a list of mostly unknowns who will not make it main camp from rookie camp as they trim the numbers to start main camp.

I've been quite busy with some personal life stuff recently, so I haven't really gotten my head around the season being here right away!

Can't wait. I'm actually looking forward to embarrassing that f***ing neck roll wearing Chad Kelly character in TO. If he even lasts as a starter long enough to play the Bombers.

CFL schedule makers in peak form not scheduling the Grey Cup rematch until Week 17

Here's my camp predictions
Houston-Nichols-Hallett-Parker-Lawrence(Hallett/Holm)
Cadwaller-Bighill-Darby
JJ-Thomas/Lawson-Walker-WillieJ/Bennett

OLeary-Orange makes a move this year and wins Bailey's spot
Eli wins C with Dobson at LG
Vet cuts - Alexander, Rose, Wilson
Gray cut or 7th OL...

don't see anyway we cut alexander, our defense is at it's best with him in the lineup

I mean thats even the most ridiculous thing there. Tanner Cadwallader is nowhere NEAR a starting spot...like ever. Not going to happen. He's not even in the top 3 WLB on the team! Great STer, no chance at defence.

I'm a huge O'Leary-Orange fan. Absolutely 0 chance he replaces Bailey. Maybe Wolitarsky, no chance of Bailey.

No chance of that happening.
