CFL Draft Day! While most casual fans may not care, it is a vital tool for CFL roster building as Canadian talent is so vital in the CFL. And sometimes it does matter such as BC snagging QB Nathan Rourke in the 2nd round in 2020, Bombers got RB Brady Oliveira in the 2nd round in 2019.

Global draft is this morning/afternoon (the Bombers have no Global needs, expect them to take at least 1 Australian punter) followed by the Canadian draft tonight. Can't wait.

Bombers currently hold all their own picks in both drafts and no others.

Two punters in the global draft so far. I think the Canadian draft is live on 3 down nation today?

Rounds 1 and 2 will be on TSN on TV tonight. Rounds 3-8 will be on TSN+ streaming.

And yeah 2 punters as expected for the Bombers. With Hansen, Maruo, Machino, Karamoka and even another couple already signed like a Dutch WR there is basically no way to even fit more Globals onto the roster or PR this year, so I figured they'd probably burn the picks pretty much.

Clearly I don't know how this global draft works....why not just take a flyer on a couple NFL picks, see what happens.

Global Draft doesn't include Americans. There was a couple of Global players that signed in the NFL like DE Habakkuk Baldonado and OL Kilian Zierer that were drafted in Global draft at 10th and 11th.

Bombers have very consistently avoided pretty much all players that have had NFL interest in both drafts for quite a while now. The have not been taking flyers on guys like Chuba Hubbard, Jesse Luketa, etc. It just doesn't seem to be their MO. And considering how salty Walters seemed to be about losing Tyrell Ford to NFL after just one year, it leads me to believe this a organization philosophy. While they don't ever stand in the way of losing NFL players, they go out of their way looking for guys who want to be here, want to be in CFL.

Dontae Bull first overall here. Tracks with traditional Redblacks philosophy and the best OL available.

I'm hoping for DE/DT Uguak to fall, but would be happy with DE/DT Korte-Moore. I'm very intrigued by DB Harrison Bagayogo.

EDIT: Sask took Korte-Moore at 3. Bit of reach for them, but a guy I had come around to as a good pick at 8 for Bombers. Kinda sucks.

If the Als don't take Bemiy or Uguak then we will get a DL if the Bombers go that way

Sutherland. Only has a 10k bonus with the Seahawks, but still a futures pick. You're right one of Uguk or Bemiy should be available at 8. Gotta think Bombers try to go that way. Problem being that on the interior they are kind full up with Lawson, Thomas, and Adamson. They need an edge and most of these DL tend to project more inside.

EDIT: BIG reach by Hamilton. Saw Dayton Black mocked often to the Bombers at 17.

Alright, @Holden Caulfield, who is Bennett Anthony?
1 (8) DL Anthony Bennett, Regina

3DownNation‘s No. 20-ranked prospect.

The 26-year-old is one of the oldest players in this year’s draft having spent five years at Florida Atlantic University before transferring to join the Rams in 2021.

He was born in Weston, Fla. while his father, Charles, played for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, though he was raised partially in Regina by his mother, Patricia. Bennett has deep football roots as his uncle, Tony, played seven years in the NFL while his cousin, Michael, was a Pro Bowl running back with the Minnesota Vikings.

He was named a first-team U Sports All-Canadian this past year after leading Canada West with eight sacks, though he measured in smaller than some teams were anticipating at the CFL Combine, checking in at six-foot-one and 229 pounds.

I guess. It's an interesting pick. A real now pick that's for sure. Most mocks I saw had him late 2nd round since he's really undersized and fairly old for a pick at 26.

Yikes, not thrilled with it but Walters and co. know more than me and deserve the benefit of the doubt.

At 26 you hope he can rotate in right away, not sure I would of gone this way

It would appear this is the thinking. Clearly they wanted a true edge rusher, many of these other guys I've seen the reports often talk of them moving inside to DT at the pro level. Very undersized but the Bombers have never been scared by odd body types much to their benefit (such as "Stove" Richardson).

Agreed. As I've said many times, I don't follow NCAA or USports. My knowledge is 100% me spending too much time reading about stuff online. As mentioned above the Bombers are not scared of breaking the mold with size, they look for fit and talent. Which is the right approach. And they clearly think they have it here. Hopefully they are right.

Maybe a few less snaps will keep the Jeff's more fresh, anyone know if Hansen will be ready for camp

I know some here don't care much for Darrin anymore but he nails it here. Bombers DL has been best when Willie/JJ/Hansen/Kongbo/Thomas/Sayles/Richardson have been moved around, mixed up lined up out position with constant new looks. Bennett being a completely different look from a Jefferson is a POSITIVE not a negative as TSN suggested.

Expected to be ready for the season for sure. Not sure about TC

12. Siriman Harrison Bagayogo, DB, University of Guelph (Bois-des-Filion, Que.)

An elite press-man corner with special fluidity and length, Bagayogo surrendered just 16 catches in his entire college career. He will need the right situation to excel, as questions around his ability to translate to CFL Zone defences and his willingness as a tackler don’t make him a fit for everyone.

This guy keeps sliding. Might be a nice Tyrell Ford replacement.
