Blues fan coming in peace. You guys got a steal here. He’s 34 but aging like fine wine. Produces at a 1st line rate, is competitive and usually a fun interview.

Most Blues fans are absolutely pissed at losing him, especially for that term and AAV. A cap casualty for the Blues benefits you guys.

Perron, Husso, Sunny, Walman, Fabbri…I guess I’m a closet Wings fan now? :dunno:

I'm projecting Perron to hit his peak at 36. Still on the upward projectory.

Definitly one of the few older players you can't be upset about.

Kind of reminds me of bringing in Alfredsson.

Great value pick at <5m. Smart and versatile with some game breaking vision.

Perron is a smart guy, and him choosing the Red Wings means he must have seen some potential.

This team is going to be a lot more watchable next year.

I wonder if Zadina or Bertuzzi are on the way out.
Zadina will likely be in the pressbox or in GR…I’m hoping Bert sticks around for a handful more seasons…I like that lil’trashy knucklehead.

His antics against Colorado in the playoffs weren't exactly endearing.

That said, if Kadri can go from "dickhead cheapshot artist in the playoffs" to "darling of a Stanley Cup champion" then Perron can have his "redemption", too.

Bertuzzi had some antics against Colorado too and no one on here cared. As soon as Perron goes bar down on the powerplay, everyone will forget about it completely

Not sure I ever observed 'this type of player' to ever seek redemption. They just age and maybe can't physically answer for their shit as much. As a fan you just hope they don't go down the really, really stupid Matt Cooke-type path.

Man, I always disliked Perron. Whiny, cheap shot, pest sort of guy. Then again, I got around to enjoying Ott when he was here so maybe there's hope.
All forgiven when he joins your team.

The next team that takes a cheap shot at Larkin is gonna get it right back from Perron and Chiarot. Quit frankly, this team has played too clean for a cellar team.

Cue the "Nobody comes into our house & pushes us around." soundclip.

Good Times! Goot, very Goot Times ahead.

Sorry if this has been brought up already but I was looking through his stats and saw he has missed a lot of games over the last 5 seasons. Is this an issue?

Everybody has missed a lot of games, thanks to corona.

But David Perron:

2022 playoffs 12/12 games - 100% of games
2021-22 season 67/82 games - 82%
2020-21 season 56/56 games - 100%
2019-20 season 71/71 games - 100%

Let's hope he can live up to Turner Elson's legacy.

I hope we'll get upgraded Elson.

With his stats, if he was 5-10 years younger, he would have been the most sought after FA after JG. Ageism at its finest in the NHL.

this sickening trend of Ageism in professional sports must end

Gretzky,Lemieux, and Orr are RIGHT THERE on the free agent market and nobody wants them just because they're not fresh out of high school, well f*** that I say it's high time the Wings pushed back on that narrative and gave them all 7 year contracts
