If I’m swinging for a forward with question marks at #9, it’s not Danielson, it’s Wood.
Wood could be a monster if he improves his speed, don't see reason why not. Don't know why , but Wil Scouch ones said , you are nuts if you draft Wood in top 10.

That would be true if we were still in October but at the WJC and at the end of the year with UCONN, I thought Wood improved his speed a lot. He's still not very agile but I don't think his speed is as much of a problem now. I like Wood and would be ok with him at 9, he's a really unique and translatable prospect and the only thing I don't really like about him is the inconsistency with his passing decisions. He tunnel visions and forces passes that are not there quite often, but other than that he's an incredibly strong power winger with a decent defensive game and good finishing ability and that's worth a lot in the draft and the NHL playoffs.

You think like Rasmussen , kinda center, but will end up as wing . Point per game as 17 years old in NCAA and lead his team in points not bad at all

Doucet is on TV right now if you're in a country that truly loves hockey.

I don't think he has a high chance of amounting to much of anything so I won't be upset if he doesn't get one but I wouldn't mind Zito getting a contract, I think there's enough there to justify giving it a shot

All signs point to him becoming a UFA after his senior eyar. But yeah whoever signs him would probably stick him in the AHL after this year.
Got it, so not a high end prospect but ready for pro. Thank you!

Any reason why he wouldn't sign?

He returned for his senior year, which lately has been a sign that the player is going to use the "loophole" of becoming a UFA instead of signing with the team that drafted him. Most pro-worthy prospects sign before their senior year.

Zero organizations signed those expiring prospect rights on that deadline day.

Seems like everybody has already moved on from those guys.

yeah not surprising really

not much point leaving it to the last minute if you want to sign a guy, just seems like the kind of thing that would have happened already if it was gonna

Always fun to listen to Horcoff. He has a few words about Cossa, for those interested.

2023 off season snapshot.... the Wings chose the wrong goalie ,Jesper Wallstedt is clearly the better netminder. Cossa's save % dropped in the WHL after he was drafted, he couldn't hold the #1 spot in net at World Juniors in either year, couldn't stick in GR, was rotated in Toledo (not even the best netminder there) and was pulled in his last ECHL game after being up 1 goal.

Insert goalies take a long time to develop retort here.

Odds Wings draft another goalie in this draft, 100%. I predict, with research that none of you can match, that it will be - Yegor Zavragin.

Said research consisted of knowing the Wings will not take a goalie early, Elites has him at #7, he is over 6 feet tall, 2nd youngest goalie in the group (with the other being under 6 feet) and I like that name.

Not only do I think this is the wrong pick, the guy is developing a routine where he does NOT come up big in the most important games. That is a death nail for the man inbetween the pipes.
