man that's such an ugly World Championship roster for team USA

there's like 2 decent NHLer's and even they are far from stars, Bonino who used to be a decent non-star half a decade ago and some prospects
It doesn't matter. Regardless of the roster, the U.S. will play well in the prelim games and give us hope, then implode in the elimination round. Year in, year out.

Mazur. Don't get hurt.

That is all.

No shit. 4 of our top 5 prospects have all been hurt this year.

Edvinsson with shoulder surgery that may have happened in Grand Rapids.
Kasper with a busted knee cap in his NHL debut.
Soderblom with a...whatever. He barely played in Grand Rapids with a mystery injury
Wallinder got injured as soon as he went over to Grand Rapids and we don't know what it is.

Maybe we need a new athletic training staff in Grand Rapids. That is ridiculous.

Ed's wasn't an injury. Apparently something about the structure of his shoulder that the team doctors identified as likely giving him issues in the future. So they fixed it.

There were several games lost due to injury in Grand Rapids, though they never outright said it was his shoulder.

In relation to kasper his knee injury happened during the SHL, Detroit’s staff actually discovered it after his first game. So if anything the medical staff is doing a good job of discovering things other places aren’t. The soderblom injury was very very weird though…literally haven’t heard anything about him in a long time and it bothers me.

On top of being a mid coach, Simon’s hysterics with injury information was really really annoying

9. Detroit Red Wings: Nate Danielson, C, Brandon Wheat Kings

My ranking: No. 20

The Red Wings are notoriously tight-lipped about these things, but on a hunch I think they take a centre with their first of two picks in the first round. And Danielson, with his well-rounded game, tools across the board, and pro size and skating, just strikes me as their type. He’s a safe bet to be a solid 2/3C who could play behind Dylan Larkin, plus he’s on the older side of this group and would fit with the Red Wings’ timeline as they try to exit out of their rebuild and round a corner toward playoff contention sooner rather than later. If it’s not Danielson, and my hunch about them targeting a centre is right, the other names to know are Oliver Moore, Dalibor Dvorsky and maybe even Brayden Yager. Moore, the best skater in the draft, would appear a natural complement behind Larkin, one of the best skaters in the NHL, but the Red Wings seldom go to the NTDP well. And Dvorsky comes with questions about his pace and whether he’ll stick at centre, and was, until a standout showing at U18 worlds, believed to no longer be a top-10 pick by all those I spoke to. I still think both of those players could be targets for the Red Wings, but I just kept coming back to Danielson as the most natural fit for the type of player they covet.

Wheeler's first draft prediction.

Wheeler's first draft prediction.

Wheeler is working like a broken clock:

- Who did Red Wings pick last year? Kasper
- Checking own notes: Defensively resposible forward with questionable production.
- Who is defensively resposible forward with questionable production?
- ???
- With 9th pick Red Wings select Danielson
