Michael Rasmussen is the perfect trade piece for me. Big, strong, two-way, center, 9th OA, locked into a very good deal where everyone could add him, underperforms with all the physical tools, does the dirty stuff, etc. and shows just a little burst of mean or offense, where a GM would go "Yeah, I could turn him into a 50pt+ guy with just some better coaching".
He's the perfect tempting add for another team and the ideal trade chip to toss into the mix because we've all watched Ras long enough here - he is what he is at this point. 30pt winger, who can't really play C, tries hard, doesn't use his size, and has questionable offensive decision making on the offensive side. He's is the perfect "he has more value to someone else than he does to us" player.
