Re last night's game vs Saginaw great comeback down 3 early to win 7-4, don't like a slow start but it happens and this team certainly didn't give up especially after the Teddy Bear goal by Nesbitt, Windsor became the better especially on the PP.
Windsor now 6-1-1-1 in their last 9 games, scoring 36 goals in the process a 4.00 goals for average and allowing 24 excluding an empty netter for a goals against of 2.67.
PP in this stretch operating at 27.2 rate going for 12-44,while the PK in the last 9 games was 24-28 for a rate of 85.7%.
Teams usually go for a combined rate of 105% and in this stretch Windsor had a 112.9 combined success rate huge reasons why Windsor has a great record in the last 9 games.
Spits are 4-0-0-1 at home and 2-1-1 on the road during this 9 game stretch.
Now have players struggled during this stretch yes, however the depth on this club has made get through any tough stretches so far.
Costanzo has played 7 of the 9 and is 5-0-1-1 and averaging 2.43 while Froggett has
played in 2 games record if 1-1 and an average of 3.50.
Overall Spits are 3rd in the league on the PP and 4th on the PK,3rd most points,1st in the Division, 2nd in the Conference.
Should be an interesting week with games vs Erie Thursday, and 2 vs London,1 Friday at London and Saturday back here against those same Knghts.
Go Spits Go.

I'd love to see a full replay of it because I was looking at another play by the Spitfires' bench at the time. I remember seeing a partial one online soon after but it was too quick to make a call on.

An account posted the video on Instagram and, from the initial TV angle, it looks like big body v. little body. The Rangers' player got the puck, turned around, and Martin was there to hit him. Maybe there's another angle that shows blatant attempt to hit the head? I don't know. But, right now....

There was a comment on here that said, from another angle, it looked like a headshot. I'd love to see that angle. With that said, Campbell is five inches shorter and was bent over after getting the puck, which likely puts him close to a foot shorter at the time. It's a tough call.
It happened.
Serve the time.

A head is a head, regardless of where it is. It is the hitter's responsibility to allow enough time to avoid a hit on the head.

Yes and no. I'm all for curbing head contact but there will always be grey areas with this topic. I'd say the same thing if it was a Spitfire being hit.
I don’t think there is any grey area. You hit a guy squarely in the head then it a penalty. Now maybe not a suspension but easily a 5 and a game. As a player you got to know that someone coming from behind the net that the chances are they aren’t going to be standing straight up and will probably
Be vulnerable. Not like he was hitting him up against the boards. I don’t think Martin did anything dirty like having an arm up or elbow or leave his feet but if you find the angle that shows the hit from the camera in the corner you clearly see it was full contact to the head.

Yeah the second angle was clearly shoulder to head. It’s a tricky spot. I mean, it became a dangerous hit due to the size difference. With that much head contact, I don’t mind the major penalty. The suspension feels long though, unless it’s a repeat. Sure it doesn’t burn us much this week because our big guy that made this hit was Ethan Martin. But what if it was another big body like Greentree, Walton, Spellacy, Nesbitt, Belchetz? Losing one of them for Saginaw/Erie/London could make a big difference…

Sorry if I missed this somewhere earlier, not a Spits fan so don't come to your board often but what is your draft pick cupboard looking like. I feel Andrew Gibson would be a great pick up and help on the back end and solidify winning the West division. What's available as buyers and what prospect would be tradeable for a 19 year old defenseman and arguable the best dman available at the deadline.

Soo wants 1 of either Ethan Belchetz or Jack Nesbitt in this deal.

The player clearly saw Martin and appears to lead with his head into Martin from the corner replay camera. No attempt was made to directly target the head. But no attempt to let up was made by Martin. Like others in here, the size difference biggest factor. If Martin's arms were at his side, maybe no call. League probably felt Martin could see he the player would be vulnerable and could have eased up his momentum and would have kept his arms down. I felt a 1-2 game would have be sufficient. We used to have checking practice at practice. Only shoulders with arms and stick down were acceptable by the coach. Need to go back to that. Of course shoulder pads back then were not bullet proof Armour so you hit hard enough to not hurt yourself doing it.

Nesbitt's in the "borderline untouchable" category short of Bowler being blown away in a deal. Gibson isn't returning next season so that's very likely off the table. Belchetz is a "we know we'll get laughed at but we have to ask anyway. Sorry" player.
