Windsor should focus on beating them on scoreboard only.Sometimes the opponent is just due to win a game. Guelph is at the bottom of the standings but certainly are not as bad as their ugly record suggests. The PP struggled and Guelph definitely had the better goaltending.
Regarding the Parkeh suspension, that's a joke.
What is it with the OHL and their infatuation with the Saginaw Spirit? Guo gets nothing either, just bad. If anything happens in the rematch next week it's on the OHL. I know Hache who played for them last year, has I think his Dad working for the league and apparently Parekh's dad is a big sponsor or something but man, it's getting ridiculous. Heck, check out the # of games the London players are getting compared to Saginaw. Something reeks. Bad look for the OHL.
Agreed!! I think Abraham has tried to lower his reputation with the refs this season....but unfortunately he does not seem to be engaged as much as he has been in the past. Age difference between him and other players maybe?....I don't knowNow maybe it’s just me but it seems Abraham just hasn’t taken the next step. It seems he not nearly as pesky as he has been in the past and i feel it has hurt his game. I just think he should be putting up more points then he has been for being an OA.
Worst O-Zone entry on the PP in the league!!Guelph goalie great, Windsor's not so much.
They spent all night with a steady stream of give aways. They don't make it easy on themselves.
No powerplay and no effort gets you zero points.
Guelph earned that one.
On to the Bayshore.
AgreeThanks for this.
I did not see this before I posted but still not impressed especially with Guo getting nothing?
Lots of weak shots by windsor. No one paying the price in front. Very weak in their own zone, frankly terrible D zone coverage!! Frogs didnt help himself either. Just not a good outing.
It looks like the Spirit are getting the treatment that it felt London used to get.Sometimes the opponent is just due to win a game. They need to have set suspensions. You swing stick at guys head you are getting an automatic 4 games with more added on depending on circumstance, cross check to head is automatic 2 games with more added if there injury or intent to injure. Why does slewfoot get an auto 2 games or player gets 2 games (i think) for flipping puck into crowd after whistle but things like this there’s no punishment until there is an injury that occurs. If you won’t let players police game then you have to do it with consistent suspensions. It looks like the Spirit are getting the treatment that it felt London used to get.
Maybe their memorial cup bid was extra nice or something?
It’s ridiculous if two guys, mutually want to drop the gloves for the 4th time this season they’ll face an automatic one game suspension. You might as well take the dirty slash or cross check your opponent in the face, I guess there’s less chance of disciplinary action when you do that.
They really need to make a point that stick infractions are worse than hits that happen to go bad.
I’d argue Halttunen didn’t deserve 4 games. He crunched Guo behind his own net, and Halttunen didn’t even take a stride in the offensive zone. Just glided into the zone and hit Guo playing with his head down.
Hicks hit on Wednesday was silly tops defender looked up, saw him coming, then turned his back along the boards.
Rather than playing the game and accepting a hit, guys are baiting checks to draw calls.
I get it’s our guy, but I’d be calling for that Guo suspension even if it was on Boulton.
I hoped under a new commissioner the league would’ve got some stuff figured out and assessed disciplinary actions with some sort of logic or reasoning that is understood by people that watch the games.
Guo suspended 4 games.
Guo suspended 4 games.
Beggers can't be choosers. It should have been a 5/GM but I'd imagine the officials opinions played a part in that. With that said, four games is still four games.
It's kinda like attempted murder. Shooting at the person and missing is a lot less than hitting and killing. The 2 minutes is because he missed Nesbitt. The 4 games was Goo prior record for attempting to Paul Bunyan Nesbitt
I agree completely. I’ve seen ‘accidental’ slew foots get 2 game suspensions. Two guys battling for positioning, push a guy to gain ground, your legs tangled with his, looks bad when he falls, and it’s a 5 major/game/2 games. They need to have set suspensions. Windsor should focus on winning. Not intent.Interesting 1st game back for Guo is next Sunday in Windsor, should have gotten 5 games, will be interesting how Windsor responds to both Guo and Parekh in that game.
I agree it was worth more than 4 games HAD he hit him. Like OHLTG mentioned hitting someone from behind injured or not, because contact was made, hence a penalty. In theory, it is not really a penalty unless contact was made other than maybe a 2 min for unsportsmanlike. Thankful for the 4 games.I agree completely. Slewfoot is dirty, with intent. Slewfoot is still dangerous, with no intent. The two should be penalized on a case by case basis. You have your on ice call and review for “no intent”. You have your automatic two + review for “intent”.
You don’t accidentally two hand swing your stick 5 and a half feet in the air, with an upwards trajectory on accident.
You can argue “it was spur of the moment, he was off balance, etc” but if Nesbitt wasn’t falling, and he took that off the back of his dome, it very well could’ve changed his career. Not saying he’s Connor McDavid, but you take a 1st round OHL pick out of his draft season, and maybe pro hockey no longer becomes an option.
I don’t think the OHL had plans for a Guo suspension considering it was 24 hours after the Parekh one from the same game.
The two on the rink I’m actually not upset with. It’s known this is a learning league for refs as well. They’re human. They’re going to miss stuff. It’s when you have the footage from multiple angles, and can see why 2000+ people gasped before the Nesbitt fight, and elect to do nothing it becomes a major issue. There’s pressure on the refs to keep the game moving. With no Injury on a play that happened behind the play of the puck, I understand why the refs don’t make 5000+ people sit around an extra five minutes while they dig for an angle that may have something the one ref in the vicinity may have missed.
I Saw a lot of fans online bring up the incident from across the league… I don’t think the OHL was why James Guo suspended, I think it was the internet.
4 games is questionable for a repeat offender, but I’m glad we’ll see him in Windsor December 8th. Hope he gets introduced to Martin and Gaymes.
Can't see Parekh as someone that can " shut it down". He will keep going until somebody introduces him to old fashioned forms of player discipline.Greg seems intent on avoiding anything remotely physical with his players. They are taking some serious abuse lately. Im very doubtful of any repercussions and no question the refs will be looking for it. Lets see if Sagies coach brings them to play hockey or continue with the dirty, mouthy shit they are becoming known for!
