Regarding the game itself...
I didn't see the Woodall hit during the game, but I've just seen the replay. The Soo player came across the zone, Woodall went to hit him, and Vader either lost balance or tripped on something at the last second and got nailed in the head. That didn't look malicious and it was simply bad timing. I know Woodall got 5/GM but I can't see that being a suspension (or a game at most for optics).
The first period was exactly what I expected - a contending Hounds club feasting on a 10th place Windsor team. Costanzo kept Windsor it in but...
The second period wasn't much different; three shots isn't going to win you any games. I think fatigue started to set in there for Windsor. It's tough to blame them, either.
Frankly, I'm surprised they played the third period with Cristoforo's issue. I don't know for certain what the issue is, though I've heard a possibility (not low blood sugar or anything like that). Regardless, for the club to come out and play the third and have it be their best period... that takes serious determination and I give them credit.
Costanzo with 42 saves and played like a rock. He has to be your starter going forward.
With the loss, they're now officially out of playoff contention. Flint won but it didn't really matter.
Now, let's get them back home, figure out what's going on with Cristoforo, and get ready for Thursday. All I want for Cristo is to be healthy; if he plays again this season, that's a bonus. He's 17; his lack of this or lack of that is completely irrelevant right now. The most important thing right now is for him to get the full help he needs, make sure his body is healthy and he can live a normal life, and push forward with whatever that may be. The fans and organization should be behind him; he's somebody's son, maybe sibling, nephew, cousin, etc. Put the petty BS aside for a bit and focus on the human.
Guelph is in town on Thursday, they're on the road on Saturday I believe, and then home again to the Knights on St. Patrick's. That's going to be a, um, show...
