Will we ever see another Peter Forsberg?

Many say (including me) Foppa is the the best Swedish player of all time and he was unique because he had no weaknesses in his game and he was something else in the playoffs. Strong as a dinosaur, could score just as well as he set up plays and hit like a train. One of the few centreman (aside from Lindros) who had other teams fear when he was on the ice.

It's too bad he only played 700 games and had a short career due to injuries, otherwise he would smash a lot more records. I don't think many people realized just how good this guy was in his prime.

I mean isn't Crosby pretty similar outside of not being as physical and being a better goal scorer? I don't particularly see Forsberg as a once in a lifetime type player, so I'd say almost certainly.

There are very few players that we'll likely see nobody of their caliber again, and their names are Wayne, Bobby, and Mario.

I can't think of anyone today any way. Closest comparable would be Crosby (not saying they're equal in terms of all-time ranking), both strong down low and ready to sacrifice their bodies in their own ways. That ferocious attitude.

And the old timers who watched Forsberg but are dead now missed out on McDavid.
Most likely guys who watched Forsberg, lived through Gretzky and Lemieux years. Not too bad. McDavid is a hell of a player. Don't get me wrong. Super fast, does everything fast actually. But it's a different kind of player.

Forsberg did it all man. The new kids nowadays aren't physical, don't play so hard. Different kind of high-end players in this era, if you catch my drift. I'll leave it at that.

No doubt, I'm thankful to still be alive and witness all the above and even McDavid. Thank you God.

They are pretty close in terms of ability though, Crosby much superior in the career aspect of course.

McDavid is a great player to watch and one of the players that define this era, but those who watched Forsberg also got to watch many great skaters. The average NHL player is a better skater today, but it's not like the extraordinary speedsters didn't exist before.

Was waiting for the Crosby comparisons to show up. Because Crosby was a big hitter with a vicious streak. lol

Methot's finger begs to differ.

But seriously though. It's not a bad comparison. Crosby is unbelievably strong down low and fights physical battles to set up plays just like Forsberg did. Crosby is also a much better scorer.

Crosby is a great comparable to Forsberg in terms of style and talent level. Ironically, Crosby has the edge in terms of durability.
Crosby is a better goal scorer, and Forsberg was better defensively.
