We're starving for goals so any option has to be explored

We started as one of the best offensive teams in October (first 9 games) but since November 1, the Ottawa Senators are 28th in GF/GP (but 10th in GA/GP)

This is so pathetic in the 8th season of your rebuild. Like the last x seasons, we just can't play 2-way hockey.

Sure why not, we're desperate for goal scoring and getting a one dimensional winger that might be able to click on Stu's wing for free doesn't have much risk.

Is that you, Steven Wright?

I don't get the excitement. The guy's got 35 goals in 188 NHL games.
averaging 15 goals per 82, that's better than Greig (1 year younger), Cousins (8 years older), Gregor (3 years older), and Amadio (5 yrs older)

It's actually pretty close to Pinto's 36 in 170 (8 months older)

He's a free depth piece with a bit of lingering potential at a time when we have two guys sitting on the shelf. .

Kaliyev is a lot like Wahlstrom. Chances are quite high he drops lower than we may assume he should.

Not many teams will want to play him in the top 6, and no teams will want to play him in the bottom 6.

He's only turning 24 this year, so a team who is out of it taking him for a trial run seems likely.

I mean, we're playing Gaudette in our top 6 (sometimes) so I think we have as good of an opportunity to give him a trial run as anyone. Contract is expiring, fills a short term depth need, only costs money.

I don't expect him to pan out but he provides some depth that allows us to send a guy to belleville. Is that worth the 100k it would cost us over having Reinhardt up? I think so.

Sounds like Kaliyev is a bit of a headache to deal with, so not sure being a former Bulldog under Staios makes it more likely we'll put in a claim

Gaudette is very likely a better option for the team, which is saying a lot as he's a very poor option for them. Kaliyev can rip the puck, but he can't skate to save his life, and his attitude has been something that's been discussed as a huge negative since his time in Hamilton.

He's all name and 2019 draft pedigree

If only we'd picked him and Zadina the rebuild would have been complete....

idk, I think he's a potential stop gap until Amadio and Perron are back, depth is always good.
