Seems like such a slam dunk pick-up, WTG Staios!

Use him while Perron is out, as a shooter to flank Stu, especially on the PP, and you can always waive him when Perron is ready, nothing to lose doing this.

edit: Wait, is this a done deal, or speculation by Bruuuuuce?

Yeah, I think the "confirmed with link" needs to be changed to "speculation" and an added question mark until we know more...

Hope this happens. The potential with Stu is massive.

We should have just traded for him. Someone like Chicago will prob pick him up.

14 clubs have priority on the Sens, and there are a couple that I think are fairly likely to place a claim.

Wahlstrom made it to the Bruins.

I think Kaliyev has been hopeless enough the last few seasons that with his 1-way money, he will clear.

Then I suspect that the Senators will trade for him, rather than claim him. He is more valuable after clearing, because he will be waiver exempt for a set period of time. That gives them more flexibility to send him to Belleville if he doesn't start strong in Ottawa. They can also move out a contract.

Maybe something like Kaliyev and Copley for Sogaard and MacEwan. Basically, a Sogaard for Kaliyev change-of-scenery swap, with Copley and MacEwan getting swapped to balance out the organizational depth and 1-way money. Portillo likely graduates to the NHL next year for LAK, which leaves room for Sogaard to play in the AHL.

Waiver claim is the right price for this player

i mean what is the value of a 6th or 7th, even a 4th or a 5th for a player who is still young and has a 90 percent chance if not higher to be better than those picks and can help now?

I remember people(me included) being upset about Dorion taking Pinto over Kaliyev with 1st pick in the second round, despite having 24 hours to think this through.

He’s a good candidate for a waiver pick-up but for some reason I just don’t see Staios picking anyone off waivers.

It would make a lot of sense the guy has good size and good shot obviously. He’s missed some time due to injury and he hasn’t been able to play much this season.

With Reinhardt and Gaudette in the lineup there’s definitely a spot for him. He has NHL experience and can produce in the right circumstances.

I’m not a Gaudette fan but I’d give him a shot and sit Gaudette. See how he plays and worst case you waive him. He’s RFA at the end of the year with lots to prove and we could keep control of the player. It’s a good scenario.

Problem is he hasn’t played this season and we would need to insert him in the lineup right away

Just like I said with Primeau, if nothing else, a claim would allow us to send someone back down to Belleville to help there. Claiming him to be our 13th forward would be a solid move for Belleville, and if he shows well enough in practice to get some games, that's a plus.
