Given that the two joke teams at the world cup are not real national teams, will the stats from their games count in the official records?

I mean will the IIHF or Swedish hockey federation register Filip Forsberg's goals against the North American U-24 team?

Will Marian Hossa's goals count for Team Europe as part of his international career?

Doesn't really matter, I suppose, but I am curious as to how seriously international hockey federations will take this fiasco.

Swedish players goals against the U24 team will be counted most likely like a "goal for Sweden" in the record books. More interesting would be if say McDavid score against Sweden, will that count in Canadas record books as an North American goal or a Canadian goal. :)

That's for the North American Under 24 record keepers to decide, I suppose.

Not particularly interesting - they'll count as a goal for the team that he played for ("record book" is a bit of an outdated term).

Not playing for Team Canada, it wouldn't be included there.

How are the goals that guys like Kovalev and Khomutov scored for the "Unified Team" at the 92 Winter Olympics counted? The Soviet Union was gone and the team not made up strictly of Russians as Darius Kasparaitis was on the squad.

The Unified Team was basically the Soviet Union before the national team was formally broken up. Sort of like the Czech/Slovak federation at the 1993 juniors.

Those teams still represented a political entity and thus were national teams.
