Keefe has said it’s more likely he’ll play games with the Marlies.

Carter Hutton has a 7.76 GAA and a .741 SV% for the Arizona Coyotes this year. I'm not a goalie expert or an analytics specialist, but when those numbers converge like that, I don't you want to see it.

Kallgren has not been NHL quality. So why not give some of the other guys, be it Hutton or Hutch, a game? There's a chance we'll need a start from one of these guys in the playoffs. So unless you really think Kallgren is the best option, give some of the other options a try.

Kallgren is definitely a better option than Hutchinson or Hutton

Hutton hasn't been an NHL caliber goalie for about 4 years now. How he even got an NHL job again coming in to the season is mind-blowing.

His part of the trade was a contract dump, nothing more. I would trust any other goalie in the system to start an NHL game before I'd want Hutton

Seems like management and coaches agree with you. I don't think there's a good chance that anyone gets a game for the stretch here except Campbell and Kallgren. Those seem like the guys they're going with, and it isn't a surprise.

But I'd like them to give someone else a try. And that's not because I really believe in Hutch or Hutton. But I don't think Kallgren has proven anything. I'd just rather have more than the one option in case Campbell misses time in the playoffs. Use a game to let someone like Hutch or Hutton get a warm up.

I get it. And I'd pick Kallgren over either of them if I had to pick one to start a playoff game tomorrow. But Hutch did win 2 playoff games for Colorado in recent memory. That's a guy who can do the job in a pinch. I'd rather have that option in the arsenal when the playoffs hit.

These last few regular season games are just about getting some field tests done before the playoffs. Try out some different pairings on defense, try out some 4th line options while we can afford to fail. I think they should take the opportunity to get another goalie some reps in-game. One injury to our questionably healthy starter and we're riding a 3rd or 4th stringer in the postseason. Why not get more options ready?

You still don’t wanna see Hutton in net. He makes Mrazek look like a Vezina candidate.

You’d rather see Mark LaForest in net again. Or for the first time, if you’re not old enough to have seen him the first time.

Now it will be the time for Hutton to sit back and reflect on each of them as the 36-year-old goaltender has opted to retire, which sees his decade-long National Hockey League career come to a close.

Featuring NHL stops with the Philadelphia Flyers, Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators, St. Louis Blues, Buffalo Sabres and Arizona Coyotes, the Thunder Bay-born Hutton feels the moment was right to hang up the pads.

“Honestly, I’ve been preparing myself for hockey to be over in some aspect for a while,” said Hutton when discussing his pronouncement.

“The NHL has evolved into a young man’s league. The average age in the league is now in the early 20s, so I knew that this job wouldn’t be a lifelong one for me.”

Hutton finished his NHL career with 235 regular season games played (206 started) with a 94-90-27 record, 2.76 goals-against average and .908 save percentage. His last appearance in the league came as a member of the Arizona Coyotes on Oct. 25, 2021 in Florida against the Panthers. Hutton stopped 10 of 11 shots in the first period before leaving the game due to injury.

The wear and tear of competing at the highest level eventually takes its toll on everyone, at various stages, and it was no different for the affable Hutton.

“Ultimately, I suffered an ankle injury in early 2021, which made the decision a lot easier for me. It restricted a lot of the mobility I needed to be as effective as I once was. This, compiled with a few other things helped me decide on retirement,” he said.
