Wild: Gallagher
Habs: Rask & A Prospect

Wild gets a gritty player in Gallagher and Mtl gets a center that can provide some help at this time. Yes Gallagher has a big contract but we cannot speculate his longevity but he will definitely provide the Wild with more grit around the net. As for Rask, he can earn a new contract with the Habs with his play for the rest of the season. An A prospect will provide the Habs the future retooling.

Gallagher isn't worth an A prospect and his ugly contract only further reinforces that. Even if it was something the Wild were interested in, we can't fit him in long term.

No, not a chance! Wild don't need Wingers, and aren't taking on that contract

It would have to be a good prospect because this would not go over well in Montreal. Selling low on Gallagher is a mistake.

Hilariously awful for MN, who doesn't need wingers, and sure as hell isn't paying 30 yo Gallagher for 5 more years @ 6.5M. Try making a proposal that assumes that the other team isn't stupid, and actually addresses their needs. To clarify, the OP is suggesting that we trade the remainder of Rask's contract (2m or so) for the remainder of Gallagher's contract (35M or so), and actually give up a prospect also. Gallagher is being outscored by Jon Merrill and Kulikov( two bottom pairing Dmen on MN), to give you an idea of what what kind of turd sandwich they are being offered here.

Don't look at Gallagher this year. He was injured most of the time and he was not very productive this year. He was very good in the playoff. He scored the first goal in Game 7 against the Leafts and send them to the golf course. But I do agree his contract is not vey good. For a trade, we need to retain a lot of $.

I hate the Cap, i think its fake, and that the teams are not honest or transparent about revenues.
BUT it's a real factor

it will be a long-shot for Gallagher to return what fans or FO believe he is worth

in today's flat cap world, Gallagher's contract is a must-to-avoid boat-anchor.
5 more seasons of $6.5M, after turning 30

what he brings to the new team on-ice is almost irrelevant,
that Cap impact will affect so many other situations, over next 5 seasons, that for many teams it will be an easy NO

Minnesota doesn't need Wingers, we are stacked! We are the same team who moved Zucker because we are stacked at Winger

Whether Gallagher is a good player or not or if the Wild have too many wingers is not even the question, the conversation doesn't even start unless there's 50% cap retain.

This is the team that bought out Parise and Suter and with our dead cap hitting next year, we are scratch for every tiny bit of cap space we can.

You lost me at 'Gallagher'.

No. A hundred times no. Not in any way, shape or form. I'm willing to do whatever keeps that bruised turd off my fav team.

Pretty easy no from the Wild before you even get to what you want back. Not a player the Wild would have any amount of interest.

Gally's a cap dump at this point. Nice of Bergy to get him paid, he isn't worth his contract even year 1.

Bunch of non-sense AND no looking at Gallagher this YEAR.

Gallagher has a really bad contract. Montreal would have to retain salary just to trade him for Rask straight up. Forget the prospect.

Gallagher's contract doesn't make sense for us. Also, not a fan of giving an A prospect for Gallagher.

I don't think these two teams are well suited for a trade. Montreal needs young players or 1st-2nd round picks, while Minnesota is at the stage where they should keep those players and picks and keep building internally while only making clear long-term win trades.

I doubt Habs move him. If they move a veteran likely be Petry. Defensemen usually highest value at trade deadline. Gallagher now will fetch no return. But has value to Habs as leader for our young players

Yeah the Habs are stuck with Gallagher and the awful term on his deal but at least they have a leader vet on a team heading into rebuild. Attaching him on trade proposals doesn't really make sense, especially now that he's injured so he doesn't even make the team acquiring him better in the present.
