Why don’t people like Mackinnon?

It seems like a lot of people root against Colorado, and Nate in particular. Dallas.. really isn’t likable either, yet I’ve been rooting for them this series.

For me, it’s this odd feeling that Nate and Cale are like the jockiest of jocks, and playing with ‘em would absolutely suck. Like they’re those Globogym bros from Dodgeball. I’m aware this is a ridiculous reason to dislike a team, but.. there it is. Also, there was a whole coverup with Val and that was messed up, but I feel like that’s not what drives the dislike. I think since they won the cup Nate’s just kinda a decent heel, and his demeanor and the silly chickpea shit just fuels it. I know, kinda a weird take, but again- feels like more people are rooting for Dallas, and no one friggin roots for Dallas (Colorado and Dallas fans exempted).

Mac is a phenomenal player. Personally I’ve never met him. But damn he is an incredible player. I’d say his teammates (especially the ones he got Cup rings) absolutely love him.

Tongue in cheek (mostly) but I always found him kinda annoying with his overhandling of the puck.

You know cradling it back and forth between forehand and backhand and dangling, when there's no reason to do so.

Idk if anyone else hs noticed that about him and his game.

I never saw him as being disliked, but there seems to be a decent number of people on here who think he can be overrated in comparison to Kucherov/Draisaitl and maybe that can come across negatively at times.

I love watching Mack play, how can you not?

I totally understand having a mentor and you can’t get a better one than Sid. But Mackinnon’s obsession with Sid is borderline creepy.

One thing that left a bad taste with some that Mack had no control of is how last year a lot of writers and talking heads declared him the MVP in like…January. “Seems like it’s his turn” was often used. He had a tremendous year, but it wasn’t a forgone conclusion like some made it out to be.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone say a bad word about Makar. lol.

Great player but has a lot of Crosby-isms without the credibility. I think his intensity rings false relative to someone like Kucherov, who's so naturally in love with the game that he dominates it.

Half of MacKinnon's current swag is also borrowed from the existence of Cale Makar.

He seems like he'd be difficult to get along with as a person, but that's just based on what I've heard about him through secondary, tertiary, and even sometimes quaternary sources. Obviously I've never even met the guy.

I love MacKinnon the hockey player though. I love watching him just skate. His level of skating is just tremendous. I personally find it more impressive than Connor McDavid's skating, even though I believe by quantifiable metrics, McDavid is ahead of him in those. It's just beautiful. Have I mentioned that I like his skating?
