Why does NHL.com list stats this way? Is it stupid?

Don't tell me it makes sense to have GF, GA, and DIFF separated by having RW and ROW in between

The App is even worse.
You cannot scroll more gamedays than one week anymore.
No assists shown in the overview. Players not linked to their bio, it's a huge mess and it's only getting worse with every new version.
Since I discovered the Flames have their own app for them and the Wranglers, I deleted the NHL app

It is indeed stupid. I just looked at the standings for the first time this season about 30 minutes ago, and had the exact same criticism, among others.

I do like that they've finally included P%. Been wanting that for a long time, and often went elsewhere because of it.

My pet peeve is when I click on "Scoreboard" (Sportsnet) "Scores" (TSN) they take me to tonight's games not to last nights scores.

I want to see the results of the games played, not "Tonight's Games"

Of course it's stupid, and always has been, and as others have said, it's only getting worse every year.

The new layout in the app this season is far worse than last season. You practically never get to see the lineups without downloading the attached PDF files. :thumbd:

"So after point percentage what is the most important stat?"
"Goals for, put it next."
"Perfect, and I supposed goals against directly after?"
"No, that's a stupid unimportant stat, put it later if there is still room."
"Wow thanks for for helping us build the NHL.com website Mr. Ken Holland"

Why do I need to go to a third party site to find basic stats on a player? If I click a player I should see all their stats you would see elsewhere.
There isn't a sports league in the world that keeps a better statistical record, accessible on the internet, than most third-party sources. They're terrible at presenting their own stats and records.

For the longest time, Major League Baseball did not list RBI before 1920 on their site, which had some ridiculous results (like when Albert Pujols was presented as the "third" player to reach 2000 RBI, even though MLB had Babe Ruth at just shy of 2000 and properly recorded his home runs prior to 1920, and even though third party researchers had a good handle on pre-1920 RBI totals as early as the 1970's).

I am almost certain that there is never a reason to visit a sports league's own web site unless you want to buy something. Fans of the sport present relevant information in a much better way, every time.

Probably for the same reason that it hides the bar with all the matches while you're watching the results for a game, or why it splits important stats into three tabs rather than just having them all in one place:

Because the one who designed that site is a complete moron.

I'll never get over how AHL.com has live updates to player season stats during games, and NHL.com doesn't.

I would love to leave this mess behind, but what site covers the NHL really well? Any suggestions?
I only know the "fan based" archives like eliteprospects, hockeydb, quanthockey. They are fine as database but not for live games.

I couldn't tell you, to be honest. I'm much more familiar with the baseball side of things.

Even worse on my phone. It doesn't have scores as one of the options at the top, you have to go through menu to find it.

You have to remember that given 'any' situation/s with multiple possible answers, the NHL will nine out of ten times pick the absolute worst one. Once you realize and accept that, it greatly reduces the banging your head on the desk duration...
