They look stacked with talent. Pettersson, Horvat, Miller, Kuzmenko, Hoglander, Garland, Boeser should make one of the deepest offences in the league. They have their elite #1 D in Hughes. Demko is one of the best goaltenders in the league.

Why do they suck every year?

Their offense is nowhere near as good as you think and their defense outside of Hughes is one of the worst in the NHL. This isn’t hard.

Am I the only one that thinks this Rutherford/Allvin combo won't last long? I wouldn't be surprised if this one is as short as what's his face's tenure in Minnesota between Fletcher and Guerin.

Never mind - Paul Fenton was only the GM in Minnesota for literally 13 months. I think these guys have already been there longer than that.

I thought he was there for 2 years, but it was only 1.

Benning got 8 years. Funny to expect rapid change.

I wouldn't be surprised either way, if they last just one more year or 10 more years.

I would think Allvin might outlast Rutherford there, should either be a long term fixture there, simply because Rutherford is about to turn 74 years old.

Am I wrong to suggest Jim Rutherford is one of the more overrated GM's ever based on his unexpected cup wins in Pittsburgh?

In Hartford/Carolina he was a GM for a mom and pop owner for two decades allowed to rearrange deck chairs with complete job security and no expectations.

Then he makes a few course correction moves on the Crosby-Malkin era Penguins and suddenly looks like a HHOF who put together this juggernaut when he merely pressed the "on" button again. Leaves Pittsburgh under a cloud of controversy and is now pressing all the wrong buttons in Vancouver in a presidential role.

His current Vancouver tenure kind of reminds me of when Cliff Fletcher was brought in to ruin the Leafs post JFJ. Senior organizational Godzilla. Lob bombs within the organization, stir up controversy and get nothing done. Piss poor work. Vancouver deserves better.

It’s funny that Rutherford as POHO is far more vocal than our actual GM, what was the point of hiring Allvin?

Demko has not been as good as usual, and also hurt for a good chunk of the year.

The team has blown an inordinate amount two and three goal leads. I know they aren't good defensively, but it's gotta be mental at this point too.

Francesco Aquilini. The Canucks should have been rebuilding properly since at least 2018 when the Sedins retired; however the mandate has been to try to make the playoffs every year even though the team has never been capable of contending. Now the Canucks' core is as good as it is ever going to get, and the team still is only a bubble playoff team even if they lucked out health wise.

That's the thing. They just turned Allvin into an AGM and put him into a spot between a president throwing bombs at the coach they're too cheap to fire.

Dysfunctional org from the top down

I actually feel bad for Bruce as much as the players. He’s not perfect but he’s demonstrated he’s a great coach who can certainly get more out of a team
He’s not a good pressure coach, we’ve seen it with every teams he has coached. Once things get hard he crumbles

It’s a top earning market, buckle your seatbelt because FA isn’t going anywhere anytime soon

Bad Contracts and a idiotic view on what makes a great team. They build a team like the Rangers did in the late 90s and early 2000s, pay out the wazoo to get the shiny toy without any consideration on team chemistry or if the the player fits a positional need.

the Miller, OEL, and Myers signings and contracts still make me scratch my head.

Miller should have been traded last year when his value was highest, OEL shouldn't have been traded for and Myers was a well known for his deficiencies when the canucks signed him.

Oh look without those three contracts the Canucks could resign Horvat and get a RD to play with Q. Hughes that isn't a 6th D.
