Who WILL BE the defensemen on Team Canada at the Olympics?

Keep in mind that this is asking who WILL BE the defensemen, not who SHOULD BE the defensemen. There is a big difference, and I want to know who WILL BE the defensemen for Team Canada at the Olympics.

You are to pick 4 players.

This accounts for the fact that the following 3 players are absolute locks: Blake, Pronger, and Niedermayer.

Who WILL BE the last 4 defensemen picked?

NOTE: In the poll question, it should say "defensemen" rather than "forwards".

Foote is on this team due to experience and the fact that Canada needs a shut down D-man, despite his sub-par season so far. The Big four will remain intact: Foote/Niedermayer, Pronger/Blake.

Redden and Regehr are the final pairing. Both are having excellent seasons and have some international experience. They compliment each other well: Redden the puckmover, Regehr the bull.

Jovo is the number 7 due to previous international experience, but he's a little too undisciplined and erratic to be counted on for big minutes. He has top-4 talent when on his game.

Redden and Regehr were easy choices for me, I had trouble choosing from a combination of Jovo, McCabe and Foote.

Redden, Regehr, Foote and Jovonovski will be the last four picked with Jovo or Regehr being the 7th defencemen.

For instance, Blake has done nothing since october to earn a spot on this team...

At this point in their careers:

Wade Redden is a better defenseman than everyone on that list (Regehr is arguable), and some not on that list: Blake.

He should be playing in the top 4.

Redden a better defenseman than everyone on that list?...

Homer much?

Redden is good, and should make it IMO, but he is no Pronger, or Neidermayer, or Blake for that matter.

And Regher? Same boat...No one in their right mind puts Redden or Regher ahead of the "Big Three".

Please find those names on that list.

And I will say that Redden is a better defenseman than Blake.

Blake isn't on Redden's level anymore at this point in his career. A shame, but his play has really dropped off lately it seems.

IMO Phaneuf should definately be the injury guy.

I have to agree, I think your quote was taken out of context. Of all the options given he's the best.

Redden, Jovanovski, Foote, and Rhegher will get it for sure. Foote will probably be only #7 d-man though. McCabe wont be on the team due to a combination of politics, but also not being as good defensively as the others.

Redden, Jovo, Regehr and McCabe (likely used sparingly on the PP, having far to good a season to be overlooked)
