Brodin is their best defenseman defensively. I just don’t see Edvisson taking anyone out at their current level. They’re all established top pairing defensemen.
Right, I get that. Edvinsson has only been top pairing for 25 games, but analytically he’s been amazing. So I know it’s obviously unlikely, but if he keeps this up there will be some people questioning why he wasn’t on the team.

Bedard. I get he's had a slow start, but surround him with Team Canada's talent and he would tear it up.

Makar had to clear his ban from Hockey Canada with an independent investigation in the summer. I don’t believe Thomas has yet. I don’t know if that would be a factor or if he just hasn’t because he wasn’t asked.
A good point and very possible. I haven’t followed that situation closely enough to know if Thomas has or has not been cleared, but obviously if he hasn’t then that would impact his chances to make the team.

Tom Wilson - almost nobody can match him physically, he can push any player off the puck plus he is skilled and can score, plays excellent 2way game and kills penalties too, really surprised he didn’t make the cut

It is a joke how Cooper is the head coach of canada and rolls in Point, Hagel, and Cirelli. No Tampa players or the coach belongs there. They have done absolutely nothing. We will see the truth when Kucherov isn't there to lug those dead weights around. A complete line of misfits on the 4th line.

This reminds me of Bobby Clarke selecting Rob Zamuner to Nagano. This time canada has 3, not just one.

Anyone telling me with a straight face that those 3 are better than Scheifele and Suzuki has no clue what hockey is.
You equate Point, Hagel and Cirelli to Rob Zamuner?

Yeah what the hell do Jon Cooper and Doug Armstrong know?

You're making a spectacle of yourself.

They know enough to have Binnington and Parayko there. Got destroyed last night by the oilers hasbeens. Binnington looked way worse than Skinner.

So who is the next D to go on the PP if makar goes down? Those numbskulls Cooper snd Armstrong have no clue how to construct a team. Hockey canada has way better guys who can run this team.

Wait, with this take you're revealing that you have what you are accusing others to have : no clue

I mean, you don't know who Brayden Point is? And Brandon Hagel has become pretty good, over PPG since last season and elite 2-way metrics. Hagel and Cirelli don't play with Kucherov that much lol. Point has played 50% this season.

Cirelli is clearly a role player for Team Canada, elite defensive player. And he's PPG this season to. Scheifele is great offensively but one of the worst centers defensively. Suzuki is good player but certainly not Point's level

I would have probably went Tanev instead of Parayko and Logan Thompson instead of Binnington. I can't criticize much else though. I hope Jarvis gets some decent ice time. He's a nice player. f***ing puck hound. Robert Thomas, Tom Wilson and Macklin would be injury replacements.,

He still hasn't answered for comparing Hagel, Cirelli and Point to Zamuner. It's there for all to see. Then he says other people know nothing about the game:,

Oilers fans are butthurt because Bouchard, Nurse and Hyman didn't make it.

Unfair shade. Strictly looking at the numbers for this season, and this season+last not only does Larkin PK way more than Thompson, but he's also been more productive on the power play both in raw numbers and per 60. I would have absolutely assumed the the former but not the latter. I also doubt many would hesitate in giving Larkin match up duties if choosing between him and Thompson.
It's just a stacked roster.
Larkin as 4C then. Seems pretty simple.

What happens if Makar goes down. Who is running the PP on the point? The brain trust never thought about that.

Morrissey can run a PP, though it would change the look as a LH shot. Marner would be an interesting choice as well as he will run the point like the defenseman when he’s there.

Bouchard is Canada's second most dominant defenseman. For his defensive warts which is extremely overblown, he is hockey's most dominant PP point man and has a knack for dramatic goals or plays. He should absolutely be on that team over some of these guys considered far less offensive and even worse defending.

Agreed. Hyman not making the team is also a head scratcher. One would think they would want a few guys on the team with proven chemistry with the best player in the world.

Team Canada is constructed with a similar flawed mindset to team USA was in 2016. Hopefully not a similar result.

Auston Matthews is the only American with more goals per game than Tage Thompson in the last 3 years.
That is incredible wow I sure hope an injury gets him on the team

He is not a better pp point man than Makar lol I don’t know how you copied possibly argue that.

Why isn’t Clayton Keller an option???

Real happy that Tage was left off the roster, seems like a terrible person.

I’d say that us swedes would’ve rather seen the likes of Backlund and Zetterlund instead of Arvidsson and Nyqvist
Based on what is Tage a terrible person?

Schiefle probably. Maybe Thompson.

Gotta say though, this might be the worst Canada roster we’ve seen in a long time. At least on paper. Sad how far we’ve come.
98 instantly comes to mind. That forward group was garbage. But yeah, if we gotta go back 26 years to find a worse roster, that's definitely saying something.

If he looked like the Hyman of last year, you have a point. All that chemistry with 97 hasn’t amounted to much so far this year though, no reason to think it would be any different in the tournament.
